After 18 years, it’s time to say goodbye to Chelsea. I arrived as a nine-year-old with a dream, and I leave as a man who’s lived that dream in ways I never imagined. This journey tested me, lifted me, and strengthened me. To every teammate, coach, staff member, and supporter, thank you for shaping me. I gave everything I had, and I’m proud of the person this club helped me become. To the young players: the path won’t always be smooth. But stay ready, stay positive, and keep your faith. God’s timing is always right. Thank you all, truly, with love and gratitude.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea reach verbal agreement with Aston Villa to sign Morgan Rogers. Bid of £117m accepted by #AVFC & being finalised. 6+1y contract, medical Monday. #AFC interested but 23yo attacker wanted #CFC; Xabi Alonso instrumental @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/81YbZw7ELc
Signing ENZO MARESCA is the best decision Boehly and Clearlake have made since buying Chelsea.
Purely based on football and no emotions. Poch ended well. We could've been tempted to keep going with him. But in terms of squad suitability, he was off. I remember saying we needed a positional manager or we give Poch the right players and that starts with keeping Gallagher.
The club did the right thing. Pochettino's football is outdated in a way and physically draining. I watched USA in Gold Cup, and the way he spread the defence reminded me of his time at Chelsea. One of the things I didn't like about his football. The buildup was rigid and players too far from each other during the buildup. He spreads them like Amorim. Which means one mistake, big chance for the opponent.
Maresca is completely different. The 3-2 buildup shape is super narrow. And the attacking midfielders use their movements to receive. My dream build-up shape since 2022. It suits our players a lot better.
Another underrated aspect of Maresca is how he manages the players physically. It's not his physical exercise program or the highway. He's very adaptable. During the CWC, he gave players more off days than training days. I was also shocked. That's a genius move. Most managers today believe that players can only be fit and ready if they go through rigorous physical drills before games. It could be true but how about their state of mind?
A relaxed and happy player can play through his limit but a sad and uncomfortable player despite the drills may not play to 50% of his physical capacity in the game. Balance is important here. Keep them happy and let them run through brick walls for you.
Cruyff used to let Romario party before games because he believed that training wasn't bringing out his best but happiness did. And each time he came back from night party he banged goals like never before and he let him do that.
My point is, Enzo Maresca brought a lot to this group that they needed which has elevated their game. From tactics to fitness management to philosophy to open-mindedness. Understanding what the group needs and giving it to them even against his wishes or beliefs.
He's been truly transformational. One of our best signings in recent years. And I know he's only getting started.
Former AC Milan and Barca player, Kevin Prince Boateng talked about a certain teammate at Hertha Berlin who brought him to Christ.
Yesterday, Jeremy Doku talking about the same player and how he led him to Christ and the player is Sevilla and Belgium winger, DODI LUKEBAKIO!!!
Now this is proper “EVANGELISM”, he's out there leading his teammates to Christ, winning souls for the kingdom of God. 🙏🙏🙏
Maresca employed tactics to get Palmer receiving facing forwards as much as possible.
• In build-up - Reece played as a deep RCM to attract Ruiz out leaving Vitinha alone at 6 and then Gusto making a late overlap timed with Palmer moving infield down the right. Vitinha couldn’t get across.
• In transition and sometimes from goal kicks - there were a lot of long passes to release Palmer quickly into space high up the pitch at RW instead of a deeper midfield role.
Match won right there.

“This year, I've reviewed over 20 business plans, and a common feature is that they all mention competitors. There's nothing wrong with a startup considering well-established companies like ShopRite or Trade Kings as competitors, but it's important to understand what it takes to reach that level before aiming to compete. I'll give a couple of examples to illustrate this.
Many startups focus heavily on capital and funding. While capital is important, customer data must come first. Without it, it's almost like not having customers at all. Customer data helps your business understand market trends, demographics, and buying patterns, enabling better strategic decisions.
For example, when you shop at ShopRite and receive a receipt, it includes key details like the fiscal code and invoice number, which can represent the customer's profile. On the That ZED Podcast, the General Manager of ShopRite mentioned that ShopRite Manda Hill serves over 1,000 customers daily. Why focus on customer numbers rather than revenue? ShopRite's POS system creates customer profiles with each transaction, allowing them to track buying habits and use this data to understand preferences and negotiate with suppliers. If ShopRite ever sold their business, buyers would value the customer base more than the stores themselves, as building a customer base takes time and effort.
Another example is ZedMobile, which may currently be operating at a loss by offering unlimited internet and voice calls for K20 per week. However, this strategy is growing their subscriber base. If they acquire 500,000 subscribers in six months, they could easily secure funding from banks or investors. At this stage, ZedMobile isn't trying to compete directly with MTN or Airtel; they are focused on growing their customer base. It's like a football team in the Championship. you must first be among the top three clubs before competing in the Premier League.” - John Zimba
