ESBOCES Board Members visited Premm Learning Center’s Kindergarten Center this week. The center opened this school year and houses nine kindergarten classrooms for students with special needs - seven are Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) classrooms for autistic students.
The students in Allison Rosso’s class at PLC are learning vocational skills. They care for the classroom fish tank and house plants, and sell items from the school snack cart. Here, Mikayla uses an adaptive device attached to a switch, which enables her to water the plants.
Illustrator Jennifer Ball-Cordero visited PLC to celebrate Read Across America. Ball-Cordero illustrated the children’s books HELLO HANDS, HELLO MOUTH, and HELLO FEET, which were written with a speech language pathologist and highlighted during the school’s multisensory event.
