Heading off to #SMBE2023! I'll be sharing about snail evolution in different habitats (rocky shore vs open ocean) on Monday (SP_24):
361: chromosomal inversions in #Littorina snails🐌
269: drivers of divergence in subtropical #pteropods 🐚with @katjaplankton
See you there!
Joining us for a research visit at the Museum are Dr Nicholas Yap, Prof Marymegan Daly, and Dr Choo Le Qin, from St John’s Island National Marine Laboratory, @OhioState and @sheffielduni respectively. Prof Daly will stay till 26 May, while Dr Yap and Dr Choo will stay till 1 June
Ready to share this preprint about the basis of a shift from egg-laying to live-birth in Littorina. We find evidence for live-bearer specific sweeps at many loci, overlapping with genes that are differential expressed btwn reproductive systems. pls share!

The #oceans are more diverse than we think! The #genomic and #morphological evidence shows that these #pteropod lineages have been evolving independently since 1 million years ago, despite their interconnected 🌊 oceanic habitat. 🧵 (6/6)
New🐚paper where we try to understand the genomic architecture of #adaptation - what role do #inversions play relative to the genomic background?🧬

It's been a blast at #eseb2022 so far! I presented my poster yesterday, and it's still there at 419 if you'd like to take a look 🐚🌊🧬 Happy #Pteropodptuesday to the #planktonteam! @Naturalis_Sci @FAME_IBED_UvA
I'm #PhDone! Thank you to my supervisors @katjaplankton, Galice and Jef, as well as my committee for the pterrific discussion on #pteropods! It's been a great 4 years at @Naturalis_Sci @IBED_UvA and I'm excited to move to @sheffielduni for a postdoc on Littorina snails🐌🧬🌊
Happy to share that the symposium Marine Genomics and Evolution @Naturalis_Sci was a success! It was great to fill the space with science, nature, art and new ideas, with contributions from @lqchoo@ferdix@ilianaBista@JNMScience @PaulaBiomine @Werner_deGier@studiodemaan etal
Thursday 24 March at 13.00h, Le Qin Choo @lqchoo will defend her PhD thesis on the genomic variability and population structure in shelled pteropods. Good luck Le Qin! @FAME_IBED_UvA @Naturalis_Sci @katjaplankton
