"We, the members of this growing community of Jewish law students. . . are united in our unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their just and courageous struggle for national liberation."

re "leftists are gonna cost Harris the election": If a politician recognizes that a voting bloc is significant enough to potentially cost them an election, and fully ignores their demands and then loses, that's kinda on that politician, no? That person is just bad at their job
The @lemkininstitute for Genocide Prevention offers its condolences to the government of the United States of America for the untimely demise of the temporary pier off the coast of Gaza. The US decided to close the pier by the end of July, after ongoing problems with weather and logistics. The effort to provide aid to the Palestinians of Gaza through the pier ultimately delivered around 8,100 metric tons of humanitarian supplies to shore, a cost of $28,395 per metric ton. The majority of this humanitarian aid has sat in a nearby warehouse due to Israel's unwillingness to ensure the safety of aid groups who would distribute it. The misadventure only saw supplies moved across the pier for 20 total days over nearly 3 months at a cost of $230 million dollars in #us taxpayer money.
While the Lemkin Institute recognizes that all help is needed in a place where nearly every one of the 2.15 million people in Gaza faces acute food insecurity and 500,000 are on the brink of starvation, the pier has been an embarrassment and is widely viewed as nothing but an #aid-washing stunt to by time for Israel's genocidal campaign. One can ask whether such ineffective and indeed farcical stunts are the best way for the United States to leverage its massive global power. If the goal of the pier was to help supplies flow to Palestinians cut off by Israel's blockade of humanitarian efforts, the most direct path forward would have been -- and still is -- to stop giving the Israeli Defense Force billions of dollars of weapons that daily visit genocidal horrors on the people of Gaza.
WE STAND WITH PROF. FRANKE: @ProfKFranke, tenured law professor at @Columbia, is at risk of losing her decades-long career for defending pro-Palestine student activists. Join our partners at @adc in denouncing Columbia’s McCarthyite investigation:

🚨🚨BREAKING: Harvard has violated its agreement with student protestors. This betrayal will PREVENT 12 STUDENTS FROM GRADUATING and place 28 on probation or suspension.
In the agreement reached to end the HOOP encampment, Garber promised to encourage Ad Boards to follow “existing precedent”. For other similar student protests, precedent is dropping charges and refraining from imposing severe consequences. This was the outcome for student organizers in the South Africa Apartheid encampment, Living Wage occupation of Mass Hall, Fossil Fuel divestment blockades, and Belinda Hall occupation.
The precedent is clear: drop the charges and do not heavily discipline students for calling for disclosure and divestment.
If the Ad Board won’t follow these precedents, they are failing to live up to Garber’s promise. If Harvard won’t live up to their promises, we see no reason to live up to ours.
For law students:
1. Both arguments are heavy on facts.
South Africa's has a clear structure. It sets out each applicable legal standard, in logical order, then presents relevant facts showing each standard is met.
Do that.
🚨 BREAKING: Today @EDcivilrights announced @Columbia is under federal investigation for anti-Palestinian racism, including by inviting NYPD officers in riot gear to arrest Palestinian and associated students protesting Israel’s genocide in Gaza. 🧵
The violent crackdown on student encampments is underway, and the justification is Jewish safety.
But the student encampments are not a danger to Jews. The repression and the toxic narrative certainly are. I reported on the ground for @thenation

Dr. Garry A. Rayant, member of the @Tulane University's President's Council, just called student protestors "domestic terrorists".
This is a form of stochastic terrorism and a clear call for state and vigilante violence against students. Will @TUFitts allow this rhetoric? (yes)
4 months later, CUNY banned student commencement speakers at future @CUNYLaw commencement ceremonies. This suit names that decision as an attempt by @CUNY to silence speech in support of Palestinian freedom.

🚨BREAKING! @cunylaw students are suing @cuny under 1st Amend. for banning student speakers @ commencement. The ban is a direct, targeted act of censorship after the last 2 student commencement speakers’ support of Palestinian freedom in their speeches. 🧵https://t.co/4fLydXPaMO
She was viciously attacked for the speech by the right-wing press & politicians using Islamophobic, xenophobic & racist tropes. @CUNY Board of Trustees joined the mob. She received death threats & was doxxed. At no point did @CUNYLaw administration come to her defense.
TO ALL CHAPTERS: THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION!
In the footsteps of our comrades at Rutgers-New Brunswick SJP, Tufts SJP, and now Columbia SJP, we call on all SJPs across the nation to seize the university and force the administration to divest, for the people of Gaza!
