Minnesota film is as disappointing as you’ll find. It’s a hodge podge of poor play calls, poor execution, mental errors, lack of effort, lack of awareness, poor communication and identification, players playing slow.. seemingly from not being aware/ confident of their assignment, then you see pressing. Just saying “screw it… let me try this”
Just really bad football. Defense once again showing their talent and potential. Kept the game close. But really never had a chance with the play of the offense.
The answer? I have no idea. Not an easy fix.
Jason Beck inherited a sturdy power run game that attacks downhill and punishes people with NFL talent and is in the process of turning it into a horizontal stretch line as if this isn’t the Big Ten
Also: QB has no confidence and everyone is stacking them. So: double whammy
With the stress of Michigan football rn let’s not forget Michigan basketball played Arizona, a top kenpom team ever in the most anticipated final 4 game ever where Zona closed as favorites but then Michigan went up by 40 in 5 minutes and won by 70 before going on to win the natty
I’ll say this again and I’ll keep saying it, Michigan has a coaching staff problem, not a Bryce Underwood problem. Jordan Marshall was insane last year and look at him now… you’re telling me he’s just garbage all the sudden? Cmon man 😂
What Beck is doing with the offense reminds me of Campbell in 24. What this team was already good at and what it should be good at are obvious to any medium-ball knower.
Whittingham can win me back if I never have to talk about Rhino again after the bye.
Michigan has much bigger offensive problems that a QB change coming out of the bye won't fix. The playcalling is trying too hard to be Utah with a team that clearly isn't that. Banged-up OL can't block anyone right now; you're running east-west with north-south guys.
Here’s where I think Michigan should go from here:
Let Kyle Whittingham finish the season. He’s a good man and has built an incredible career, but this job is simply too big for where he is in his career. Michigan isn’t a small-market rebuild—it’s one of the premier jobs in all of sports, and this program needs someone with the energy, recruiting chops, and vision to build a national championship contender.
The discipline and turnovers are symptoms of a bigger issue. I actually think there’s a lot of talent on this roster. I just don’t think the current coaching dynamic is maximizing it.
Bryce Underwood deserves the opportunity to play in an environment built around his development. If that means transferring to a program with an elite offensive mind—LSU, Oregon, or somewhere similar…I’d understand it.
For Michigan, I’d be looking hard at a coach in his mid-to-late 30s: someone we can invest in, grow with, and build around for the next decade. An elite recruiter. An offensive innovator. Someone who understands the NIL era and can turn Michigan’s resources into a sustained national championship program.
Michigan doesn’t need a short-term fix. It needs to identify the next great coach and build the entire program around him.
This has NOTHING to do with Bryce. This is coaching malpractice. Why can’t we run the football up in the 4th to run ANY clock to save our defense? Whittingham shouldn’t come back to Ann Arbor today and if he does it should be on a stake in the diag
