To all our Scottish friends who are (rightfully) confused: Yes, it's Auld Lang Syne. In the Netherlands we turned it into "Wij Houden Van Oranje" ("We love orange") back in 1988, and it’s been our football anthem ever since 🇳🇱🍊 #nedjpn
@azhuero@tuggyj As a Dutch person I can tell you we were confused as well, it wasn't us, and apparently it wasn't japan either, turns out it was some sort of soundtrack that was being played over and over again
Unfortunately I think maturing as a woman is realising that misogyny is so ingrained in everything and quite literally impossible to avoid. It's in our media, it's in our light hearted conversations. It's in the expectation that your mum will have dinner ready. It's the man staring down your shirt on the train. It's in the jokes you overhear at the pub. It's that one line in your favourite TV show. It's your male relatives sitting down after Christmas dinner. It's the conversation you have with a 'well meaning' man at your hospitality job. We're tragically used to it.
Whenever Zverev plays Djokovic, you get a whole host of people pretending that it's really hard to pick who they'd prefer to win between someone that was accused of domestic violence multiple times and a tennis player they don't really like.
