The job of our police is to keep people safe, not enforce fed immigration laws. I want them preventing homicides, not hunting down a working dad who contributes to MPLS & is from Ecuador. It’s similar to the policy your guy Rudy had in NYC. Everyone should feel safe calling 911.
Evil may have its hour, but God will have His day. This is one of the meanings enshrined in the story of Christ. Of His earthly suffering and death – and of His resurrection, and the truth that sooner or later, yet inevitably, evil will retreat, and life will triumph.
That is what we have wanted for all 1,152 days. We are united in this. Every day – and especially today, when Ukrainians of all Christian denominations celebrate Easter on the same date. Together. We fight for Ukraine together. And we pray for Ukraine together.
May evil’s hour end. May the day of life arrive. The day of peace. The day of Ukraine. The day that lasts for centuries. And we will be able to come together again. At one table. On a peaceful Easter.
May all this come true.
May God help us in this.
May there be peace. May there be Ukraine.
Christ is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!
After getting some rest, I am in awe of everyone who continues to lift their voice and speak out. This is a moment for our country, and we must make a choice about the America we want to be.
I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up.
What’s most clear to me tonight is that this is just the beginning, that Americans across this country, no matter their title or party, are ready to be heard.
I believe that history will show we rose to meet this moment.
It will show we did not let the chaos and division go unanswered.
It will show that when our president chose to spread lies and sow fear, we chose to come together, to work together, and to rise together.
President Biden inherited a country rocked by a pandemic and an economic crisis and helped us recover from both, among many other achievements.
Much will be written about his legacy, but for now, let's start with: Thank you, Joe.
Saw Nick Cave in Paris recently at the Accor Arena and I was really struck by that song Joy where he sings “We’ve all had too much sorrow, now it the time for joy.” I was thinking to myself, yeah that’s about right.
It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either. So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today:
– Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them. Thank them.
– Don’t share things before checking your sources.
– Let the process run its course. It takes time to count every ballot.
We don’t need four more years of arrogance and bumbling and bluster and division under Donald Trump.
America is ready for a better story – we’re ready for a President @KamalaHarris.
I have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution six times in my career, and have always upheld it without reservation.
Therein lies the profound difference between Donald Trump and me. He violated that oath, and, make no mistake: if given the chance, he would violate it again.
23 years ago, an unthinkable tragedy profoundly changed our nation.
September 11 is a day we will never forget. Today, we mourn the lives lost, honor the nation’s heroic first responders, and reflect on the unwavering spirit of the American people.
I was touched to see Gus Walz’s joy when his dad @Tim_Walz took the stage last night. Thankful for you showing us all what real love looks like, Gus.
Let’s be a nation that embraces this kind of warmth and vulnerability, instead of making fun or mocking it. We could all use some of Gus’s example in our own lives.
The authentic Olympic and Paralympic spirit is an antidote against the tragedy of war and a way to put an end to violence. May sport build bridges, break down barriers, and foster peaceful relations. #OlympicTruce#Paris2024
The great thing about America is that here, kings and dictators do not rule.
The people do.
History is in your hands.
The power is in your hands.
The idea of America lies in your hands.
A lesson of the Holocaust is that it wasn't inevitable – hate never goes away, it only hides. And when given oxygen, it comes out from under the rocks.
We must learn from history so we don’t surrender our future to horrors of the past.
Hate should never be given safe harbor.
Congratulations to the workers at Volkswagen in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on their historic vote for union representation with the United Auto Workers. Union members across the country have logged major wins and large raises, and I will continue to stand with American workers and stand against efforts from Republican officials to weaken workers’ voice.
