I have had a great time at #IIRB2022 this week. I presented data from my PhD and had some interesting questions and discussions with fellow sugar beet researchers from around the world @UoN_Beet_team@BBRO_Beet@UoNBiosciences
Even after moving away from the family farm I still like to have some influence on it…
I present you: Fluffy the sheep and her mullet!

These plots were ‘double drilled’ at the end of March. Gapping them out at 5 leaf stage is important to achieve a consistent canopy for my work. These plots form part of a canopy manipulation trial in its 2nd year. @UoNBiosciences@BBRO_Beet
An update on my PhD research is available in the May Beet Review discussing the impact of sugar beet canopy angle on photosynthesis and yield. @UoN_Beet_team@UoNBiosciences@BBRO_Beet https://t.co/JGseBTjI6W
Sugar beet canopy type (upright or prostate) influences light use efficiency!!!
Cultivars with different canopy type could be more beneficial for different harvest dates!!!
Thank you Lucy Tillier from @UoN_Beet_team !!!
Yes, that is a tomato plant but don’t worry! I am just trying out the new @Phenospex. Starting to plan an exciting experiment with sugar beet for the new year @UoNHounsfield@UoN_Beet_team
I feel very accomplished to have completed my final sequential biomass harvest of my PhD! This data is being used to calculate radiation use efficiency in sugar beet varieties of varying canopy types 🌱☀️
Today we harvested @ltillier97 canopy manipulation plots. Now to find out if making a canopy more upright or flat influences overall yield! @BBRO_Beet@UoNBiosciences
😍 🌈 IT'S HERE 🌈 😍
We're thrilled to unveil the winner of this year's Pride Tractor Competition with @MF_EAME and @weareagrespect️
Well done to the Watt family 😊
Thank you to everyone who entered- we loved seeing all of your colourful designs 😊

Today @ltillier97 is measuring photosynthesis on the caged 'upright' beet and the pegged down 'prostrate' beet to see how season long canopy angle differences has affected this variety @BBRO_Beet@UoNBiosciences
