Mat Best - Folded Flag (Official Music Video)
This song was written for the men and women who stepped into the fire for this country and never made it home, and for the families, friends, and brothers left carrying their memory forward.
Memorial Day isn’t just a long weekend. Behind every folded flag is a name, a story, and a sacrifice that built the freedom we live in every day.
This song proudly supports the Major Brent Taylor Foundation and the Gold Star families it supports.
24 Years later we remember the tremendous sacrifice of our first responders who bravely responded to one of the worst events on American soil, giving up their lives so that others could be saved. May their Bravery never be forgotten. The FDNY lost 343 members that day and has lost 402 to WTC cancers since, it’s an incredible legacy that they left & should be a model that we should all live by, Freedom is not Free! May God Bless their families, those who were lost just going to work, the FDNY, the NYPD , and the PAPD. We miss all of you and the selflessness you brought to this world. Never Forget!
We asked Morning Pride / Honeywell to make us some gear that would protect us better during our days at FDTN. Thank you for listening! The gear did amazing. #FireCombat#FDTN #fdtraining#firetraining#livefire#RIT #firegroundops#engineops #truckops#tailboard#training
Joseph Angelini III lost both his father and grandfather in the World Trade Center attacks. His father, Joseph Angelini Jr. was working in Ladder Co. 4 on September 11th. Joseph’s grandfather, Joseph Angelini Sr., was the oldest serving Firefighter in the Department. And while he was on light duty day, he responded to the Twin Towers when he heard his son was there. Just three years old back then, Angelini will now carry on his family’s legacy in the FDNY. He is one of 326 Probationary Firefighters graduating from the Fire Academy Wednesday morning.
Time is undefeated, life is not.
We pass away, time just keeps ticking, as it is a machine, a man made structure that masks the fact that time is just an easier metric to swallow spending frivolously than life, our life. Time is a less personal metric, clocks, calendars, times zones are tools, not truths.
How we experience the world slows and speeds up in separate states of mind and physiology, our brain is a weird particle decelerator in this sense as it takes in this massive amount of information and slows it into our perceptive reality. I like to call it a decelerator of chaos, a machine built to slow down just enough to give you the illusion of choice and the possibility of meaning lol. But the brain is what creates clarity from the infinite chaos, but abstract realism aside at its core the brain is a predictive computer, always anticipating the next particle of reality. Prediction that involves the slowing down of the chaotic unknown into a navigable now. But back to my point, now is all you have, “time”, but really, life, that has passed belongs to the grim reaper, your photo album, and your shitty memory (google “how bad is the human memory”, good reasons there not to let your past limit you as well, drop the stories, they’re probably wrong anyways) Life in the future isn’t promised, and your brain is performing magic and carrying the fucking boats for you to enjoy this moment of reality… try to enjoy it when you can.
All this just to say, time isn’t real lol, but that blood pump beating in your chest is, and you only get so many beats to dance with.
I like the perspective from this quote, as a reminder to myself, don’t let too much life pass by unconsciously masquerading as time, definitely don’t kill time/life..
Memento Mori.. “remember you must die”
Live well. 🤘🏽
