This was a fun scene to do, i kind of wish i went a bit more over the top with the big earth wall effects but i was ready to be done with the animation by this point!
(please don't laugh at my F tier voice acting 🥲)

The idea isn't very complicated, but i originally was applying blur to both elements individually in the timeline, but by merging them in the node editor, i could more easily time and access the in/out of the blurs. The snow is "MediaIn2" that gets added to both clips pre-blur.
@TheWeekendGeek DaVinci Resolve is really good, it can do a lot of the things you can do with Premire+AE, not quite as robust but it's free! The node-based effect editor is rapidly becoming one of my favorite post processing tools.
Still liking the idea of 2.5d stuff for backgrounds, still not sure how i'm going to do the frame by frame on top of it though. I don't really want to composite everything inside Blender again, that was too much of a headache.
I didn't plan a full animatic for these cuts, i just went from storyboard to layout to clean up, and it's shown me that i don't have a good sense of fluidity between cuts.
Do any of you know of any resources that talk about that sort of thing?

Animating the lightning on 1's is slick, but i think it makes things a bit too fast. Still a super fun sequence to work on at the moment tho

I so badly wanna make a Firepunch animation but it's hard to balance the full engulfment of the fire without overly obscuring the action. Not to mention the sheer amount of fire you need to animate.
Heres a little test i did. Back to the lab for now. #firepunch#animation
They strapped a damn GoPro to his head for this shot, Samurai Champloo did what others were too afraid to do.
I watched this about a month ago but it still sticks with me.
Still need a lot more practice, both in making interesting shots and in making the 2D match the 3d better, but it's not a bad start i think! If i get time, i might clean this up a bit
