@danielleearl93 We got the clarification. Honestly, I was not reading the original rules as most people here were, as it would have made it very difficult for some disciplines (and skating schools). But I’m glad the new wording is clear.
Many had questions about the wording regarding citizenship/residency requirements for pairs/ice dance in the recent Competition & Event Regulations document - this has now been clarified to state the non-citizenship having partner does not have to fulfil the residency requirement
@danielleearl93 But I might be misinterpreting it and all skaters have to comply to the 8.2.1 section and pairs/ice dance have the added requirement of one partner having citizenship. I just wish they stated it explicitly like the wording in the 2024 ISU regulations (rule 109).
@lesyeuxdenica His stocks are down. When GW was announced, they were checking VM’s performance and not his parents’ 😅 Honestly, they sound like private people.
@vinaylikes_@wthrnghghtsfd Even the "spreading of medalists" criteria... SCI has any from worlds or olympics, besides Pereira/Michaud, as of now? It just seemed business as usual for ice dance, and not taking into account the new criteria. 😅
@vinaylikes_@wthrnghghtsfd I was just curious because they've won NHK twice. Going from Montreal to Kelowna (BC) and immediately after to Shenzhen, with no direct flights, seems brutal in such short time.
@vinaylikes_@wthrnghghtsfd In ice dance, we ended up having the traditional 1-3 and 4-6 seeds not meeting, though. F/G are even doing back to back weekends going from Kelowna, BC (SCI) to Shenzhen (COC). Since they don't have a host gp, I wonder why they didn't prefer NHK over China or Canada.
@wthrnghghtsfd@vadymcostcocard Well, they are no longer a new school. I think iamo is one of the best schools to grow a team, work on the foundations, but in ice dance there is inevitably a good deal of politicking and selling a narrative.
@vadymcostcocard@wthrnghghtsfd What do you mean iamo pushed them aside? They’re their top ranking team. But I do agree they are not good at politicking, like IAM or Igor.
@ayphyd I think CPom can beat R/A (they would have at worlds if not for a petal). I think they can get a silver there. But doing the first GP after a long tour is challenging. Also, why NHK and not Finland. B/S actually got easier GPs. 🫣
@KostoWarrior I get CPom weren’t seeded with R/S continuing (because of a petal…), but actually feel B/S who are much lower in the standings have a more favourable pair of GPs with Cup of China and Finland.
With a tour until late May, being in the first GP of the season is strange.
@AnythingGOE So, confirmation that the CDE is replacing the ChRS, but no mention about how it will be scored, right? Really hoping BV 2.0 and GOE up to 7.5 will change as it has proven to be highly subjective.
@tea_zamboni Inventive lifts are so eye-catching, but I do miss teams consistently getting level 3 and 4 in step sequences. P/B were very well-rounded.
@gwendalsflow Fournier-Beaudry would be 37, Cizeron 35. Talk about longevity. They would be older than Torvill and Dean at Lillehammer. 4 years is a long time to not have injuries, though.
@Skatejoy2026 I think they already got the help when they needed it the most, though. Now with a medal and momentum... we'll see. Hopefully the hole US ice dance field, which is so strong, has an opportunity to grow and shine on their own merits. And USFS allow healthy rivalries.
