@zukosmadre idk maybe i am being unfair over the expression of very reasonable grief in the face of the migrant deaths and so on. guess it just feels a bit grim to me. obviously the material analysis doesn't stand in support of billionaires in any sense, both as an idea and as individuals.
@zukosmadre it feels like an extension of the issue with rehabilitative justice - like i get its uncomfortable but the argument for that applies to people like bezos and billionaires too and i don't think we should be gleefully enjoying their pain cause we gain nothing from it. it's childish

@Ian_Gay_briel additionally, even if that was the argument, your point ignored the decision being made and removed the will of those involved. rents don't just rise, people raise them, for particular reasons yes, but they still make those decisions and they have the ability to not.
@Ian_Gay_briel this feels like a willful misunderstanding of the argument being made. most people understand supply and demand, it's one of if not the most widely understood economic concept. the argument is that rents also rise as a result of other factors, such as greed.
idk man the submarine shit is freaking me out! i don't like gleeful celebration of total stangers' horrifying deaths! that does not serve a purpose morally or politically it's just vicious cruelty masquerading as moral righteousness!
@zukosmadre not a fan of billionaires and on board with the idea of having none of them. can't wait for musk and bezos to kick the bucket and really all billionaires have earned whatever is coming their way, but this particular line of thinking is really unsettling to me. serves no purpose
@zukosmadre i think it's really weird to fantasise about the horrifying suffocating deaths of strangers you know absolutely nothing about purely on the reasonable guess they are rich because they went in a submarine. that's not advantageous it's just cruel and nasty and vicious.
@boring_as_heck this one is hilarious cause not only is it the quiet part out loud and all that but the quiet part is the selling point here. they've made the quiet part into the loud part
