@KemtrupTweets Definitely agree with the need for more resources- crisis services here ( non-gov) would crumble without volunteers. I’ve worked in community mental health and it was easy compared to those crisis lines.

@KemtrupTweets My training for the crisis line in Australia was actually mainly around listening skills, validation, reflection and risk assessment. We didn’t really suggest things, unless they had a plan which only few people did and then we would remind them of it.

@KemtrupTweets Yeah absolutely, I mean as I learn more about psychodynamic approaches I cringe at lots of stuff I hear but to be fair this is what is being taught- some of the things in the thread sound very much like dbt strategies so this kind of is ‘evidence based’

@KemtrupTweets However….. the people I spoke to on that line were some of the most complicated people I have ever worked with, it was extremely challenging work with people with chronic and severe mental illness and we were all volunteers. I believe this is still the case in Australia mostly

@KemtrupTweets Have you worked on a crisis line? I ask because I did while I was doing my honours in psychology, so I had no actually experience in therapy or counselling. We were all laypeople who did really excellent training actually- better than some at uni

@dickonb @JonathanShedler Exactly! So much wonderful work occurs inside public health or other non- for - profit organisations. I love that groups and projects like AMBIT help clinicians ( like those of us who work in CAYMHS) working on the coal face

@dickonb @JonathanShedler It’s disrespectful and absurd, and omnipotent to suppose he can speak for all systems in all countries. I’m not sure what the purpose of many of his communications are of late, there seems to be an increasing amount of negativity that doesn’t seem helpful to anyone.

I wonder whether you apply yourself to lovemaking the same way you would learn those skill?That would be a little absurd, no? You can learn tips but you need a responsive other

@DrMindermast @Boo_orgpsych @TheShr1nk Depends on the kind of therapy you are doing? If it’s real therapy there’s not really outside tasks, the session is the therapy.

@TheShr1nk I feel like it would be incredibly therapeutic if he would Make out with me, maybe just once or twice, or let me move into his house ( like Freud did on a number of occasions) apparently it’s not within the “frame” and he would be “de-registered”.
