‼️ UPDATE: A39 Quantock Road
Today, emergency services have been on the A39 Quantock Road, in Bridgwater, following a road-related incident involving a bus and a motorcyclist.
The double decker bus was carrying 70 Hinkley Point C workers and the driver when it overturned (1/2)
Today is likely to be the bleakest day for the NHS. Major incidents have already been declared across the country prior to the ambulance strike.
This has been evolving for many years of neglect of the NHS.
This is not as a consequence of strike action, but the reason for it.
I’m finally realising how awful working within the NHS is. This weekend it hit me that I now consider having time to pee while at work or have an uninterrupted 10 minutes to eat lunch is a total luxury. Time to reconsider options.
All government advertising campaigns to reduce a&e attendances is to call 111.
Is there any evidence to show this works?
I don’t see the ones who they direct away but anecdotally I do see a lot who didn’t need to come/come by ambulance.
Would money be better spent in a&e?
Just another gentle reminder that if you need to attend A & E, please be respectful towards staff members. Everyone is working exceptionally hard in difficult circumstances & could really do without the added abuse, however frustrated you may feel.
Be kind.

Emergency Departments are drowning right now - not because of the folk who attend but because of exit block - this is the worst I’ve experienced in the last 15 years - why the block - because there are no beds available - why no beds - acute/chronic lack of social care. Simples
@British_Airways how come I am unable to check online for flight ba0054 tomorrow night!? I have completed VeriFLY but stating it cannot verify health documentation !? Please help!
23 yrs a Dr, 14+ yrs an EM consultant. Never have I seen patients receive such suboptimal care and be at such risk. They are coming to serious harm as are ED staff who feel overwhelmed, broken, abandoned. This was predictable and preventable. @NHSMillion@RCollEM@doctor_oxford
The latest Urgent and Emergency Care Daily Situation Report 2021-22 shows that there are 124,855 staff absences related to covid (due to illness or self-isolation).
This represents nearly 10% of the total NHSE workforce (1,348,961 Headcount in August 21, NHS Digital).
"People are being...very angry with us...about long waits, about having to stand outside emergency depts. in queues, about delays in ambulances coming...
The public haven’t really caught up with how struggling the whole NHS is." @RCEMpresident
