This excellent resource from @RCPhysicians has upset the Daily Mail . Oh dear . Please read and share it as widely as possible , and huge thanks to all those who put it together . Top work .
Yet here we have an NHS body openly (& dishonestly, & illegally) presenting PAs to the public as “physicians” - doctors - when they are no such thing.
Far from having a 5 year medical degree, they’ve only completed a 2 year PA course whose exit exam with a 100% pass rate. 4/n
I’m simply horrified to see @NHSEngland now literally breaking the law in how it misrepresents physician associates & other allied health professional - who are NOT doctors - to the public.
These posters are from the Bradford District & Craven Health & Care Partnership. 1/n
I think this is breathtakingly unscrupulous from @NHSEngland, @gmcuk, @DHSCgovuk & everyone else involved in this project of confusing & bamboozling the public into believing they’ve seen a doctor when they’ve been fobbed off with someone less well trained & experienced. 6/n
I downloaded the posters from their website, here: https://t.co/mKjwONtqnZ
“Physician” is a title that’s protected in law - to protect you, the public, from the dangers of fake doctors masquerading as the real thing. 2/n
A reminder that when Labour left office in 2010 NHS satisfaction ratings were at their highest ever. Fourteen years of Tory government has provided a total reversal. They should be annihilated at a general election. Not just beaten. Annihilated.
Public satisfaction with #NHS is at an all-time low, a deliberate political policy to push people into the arms of private healthcare. In fact, NHS activity & productivity is pretty good, given the resources it has. But it simply doesn’t have the resources to keep up with demand.
I have just finished another set of incredibly difficult weekend nights as the A&E consultant incharge.
Some thoughts:
The NHS no longer provides unscheduled care - we provide treatment. Care is with dignity - that's impossible for our patients in corridors.
The model of acute care is not working or sustainable. We need a completely different approach - with long term investment in prevention and community care
111 need to change risk thresholds as far too many come to a&e when they don't need to.
There needs to be alternative pathways to get care overnight for those who don't have accidents or emergencies. A&E shouldn't be anything and everything
Staff are broke - supporting staff is just as vital as looking after patients
This government have totally decimated our the NHS. They are the ones who should be apologising to our patients not our staff.
Hundreds are dying each week because of lack of hospital capacity and corridor care in a&e, yet it's not on the news and no public uproar. As staff and patients we have accepted the unacceptable.
Everyone needs to know the reality of what is happening - so that politicians offer a different solution and patients get the care they deserve. Sadly most of the public have no idea of what is genuinely going on.
And finally, a post night fry up is the best antidote for the stresses of the weekend. Goodnight!
In September the Prime Minister and his Government announced delays for key climate commitments , tearing up plans to tackle vehicle emissions & phase out gas boilers .
Today I can announce I'm taking them to the High Court – but I need your help .

Please take two mins to watch this video from the TUC depicting how political decisions since 2010 have all but destroyed our once-great NHS, as waiting lists have soared from 4 to 7.5 million. It’s heartbreaking 😔
NHS England has told hospitals they are not allowed to increase their staffing in the next 12 months, reports @HMAnderson39.
One director said: "I worry that this will lead boards to take unsafe risks, and head into Mid Staffs territory."

Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average.
What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3
Utterly magical #WildIsles programme tonight - a series that could transform our relationship towards UK nature & wildlife. It’s said we won’t protect what we don’t love & we won’t love what we don’t know & see. Thank you #SirDavidAttenborough for helping us fall in love again
What the government doesn’t realise is that ‘junior’ doctors are already left with:
🔵80k student debt
🔵Horrors from pandemic
🔵Substandard training due 2 pressures
🔵No hope of light at end of tunnel
🔵Not enough £ to pay costs
They’ll keep striking
They’ve nothing to lose
