@LJennerSLT @RCSLT A Who’s Who of the office/clinic/department with a lil photo and some background information (doesn’t have to be about SLT!!) about who everyone is. That helps to break down the wall of a staff v student imo :)
If you’re supporting someone with eating, drinking & swallowing difficulties, make sure you THINK BEFORE YOU THICKEN any fluids. #SwallowAware2024#NHWeek@NHWeek Read our guidance on why this is important: https://t.co/5kROWVG5Sj
Most people think of patient facing roles being only Doctors and Nurses.
However, there’s a whole other group called Allied Health Professionals (AHPs).
There’s 14 groups that work side by side with us to provide the best care for patients.
We are looking for Speech and Language Therapy graduates (NQPs) with an interest in speech and language disorders, who once qualified, would want to work with children and young people in an educational setting.

Fourth speaker, Ella Hay - Ella highlighted the importance of advocating for yourself if you find yourself needing more admin time. Don’t be afraid to ask for this and make sure you get the necessary support to be an amazing therapist.
This reminds me of my latest paeds placement where many children with behavioural problems had signs of unnoticed hearing loss - referral to audiology!
Kirsty has also set up a Journal Club to help keep the team up to date on EBP - great idea!

Thank you Kate for sharing :)
Trying to familiarise myself with some paediatric assessments. Use and seeing them administered/administering myself may be key to the committing to memory process. #slt2be#assessments#celf#pls5
The #SLT profession has always been at the heart of the NHS, diversifying the role to meet the demands of an ever-evolving system, and supporting people across multiple clinical areas with swallowing and communication needs. #NHSbirthday#NHS75@RCSLTWales@rcsltscot@RCSLTNI
This from @UKLabour is a welcome idea, but we are concerned about unintended consequences. 8% of children stammer at some point and many are amazing communicators. Using fluency as a measure of good communication skills could fail all those children.
