Representatives from The Max Foundation today held discussions with the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, to share progress on the organization’s partnership with the Ministry of Health in expanding access to cancer treatment in Kenya.

The Foundation, which formalized its collaboration with the Ministry through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2021, has been instrumental in supporting the supply of essential oncology medicines for patients diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and breast cancer.

These life-saving drugs are provided free of charge at select public and private health facilities, including Nairobi Hospital, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, and Kenyatta University Teaching, Research and Referral Hospital.

Dr. Oluga praised the Foundation’s sustained commitment to improving cancer care, describing its 24-year track record of service as “remarkable and deeply appreciated.”

“We are grateful for this work that has gone on for 24 years,” said Dr. Oluga, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with The Max Foundation. He emphasized the importance of such partnerships in scaling up national cancer access programmes and delivering equitable care to all Kenyans.
