The Clinical Information Network team concluded a two-day workshop with Nurse Managers from 12 CIN-linked County Referral Hospitals. The workshop was a stakeholder consultation on routine staffing data and co-design of hospital staffing tools. The workshop emphasized the importance of investing in the nursing workforce for quality and safe healthcare delivery, and shaping data-driven, people-centered solutions that enhance health systems for both providers and patients.
We held an introductory meeting with the Kirinyaga County Department of Health to officially launch two collaborative research projects ; Africa's First Referral Hospitals, Innovation and Care (AFRHiCARE) and A Novel Extreme Weather Risk Insurance System for Kenya (NEWRISK).
The session brought together county health officials and research teams from @KEMRI_Wellcome to provide an overview of both projects, outlining the scope, expected outcomes and critical role of county stakeholders, and to address health system challenges and climate related risks.
🔎AFRHiCARE led by Prof. Mike English aims to reimagine the role of First Referral Hospitals in delivering essential hospital care closer to communities. The study will examine how counties can more effectively deploy healthcare workers and integrate technologies to meet the growing demands for services.
🔎NEWRISK led by @TsofaB focuses on developing climate risk tools and models to strengthen the resilience of Kenya's health systems in the face of extreme weather events such as droughts, heatwaves and flooding.
Special thanks to Dr. Esbon Gakuo, County Director of Health, for his warm welcome and commitment to evidence-informed health improvements. We look forward to productive collaborations, shared learning, and the use of locally strengthened health system in Kirinyaga county and beyond.
#CervicalCancer Training for Cohort 2 members is officially underway at @Olive Gardens Hotel
