28/08/1970: Malawi 🇲🇼 changed its currency from the Malawian pound to the Kwacha.
Kwacha means “dawn” in Chichewa ���� - a symbol of freedom and new beginnings.

• Originally just "Papua"
• Now the most populous Pacific Island nation.

The story begins with the Berber term "Akka-Guiné," which means "land of the blacks."

European explorers adopted this name for the West African coast.
