Leopold Aschenbrenner trabalhou no time de Superalignment da OpenAI até ser demitido em abril de 2024.

Dois meses depois, publicou "Situational Awareness: The Decade Ahead", onde argumentou que a AGI estava chegando mais rápido do que qualquer investidor imaginava.

Enquanto todo mundo em Wall Street apostava em empresas de chips e modelos de IA, ele olhou para a mesma curva de escala e chegou a uma conclusão diferente: os vencedores seriam quem controlasse a eletricidade.

A matemática de potência dos clusters de treinamento é implacável.

Em 2022, o cluster do GPT-4 consumia 10 megawatts.
Em 2024, o maior cluster já exigia 100 megawatts.
Em 2026, o líder consome 1 gigawatt, a potência de um reator nuclear grande.

Até 2030, a projeção é de 100 gigawatts, mais de 20% de toda a geração elétrica dos Estados Unidos, para uma única instalação de treinamento.

E isso sem contar inferência, que exige múltiplos disso.

O fundo dele, Situational Awareness LP, colocou essa tese em prática.

A maior posição é $875 milhões em Bloom Energy, uma empresa de células de combustível que gera eletricidade diretamente no site do data center, sem depender da rede elétrica.

Ontem, a Bloom anunciou um acordo de 2,8 gigawatts com a Oracle para alimentar seus data centers de IA. A ação subiu 15% no after-hours. Essa posição agora vale perto de $2 bilhões.

As outras apostas seguem a mesma lógica:

$700 milhões em CoreWeave
Calls de Intel que multiplicaram numa alta de 53%
Participação de quase 10% na Core Scientific, uma mineradora de Bitcoin que está convertendo sua infraestrutura de energia em hosting de data centers de IA.
E um short em Infosys, apostando que agentes de IA vão destruir o modelo de TI terceirizada.

A geração elétrica dos EUA cresceu apenas 5% na última década. A rede não foi construída para isso.

A escassez de transformadores, os atrasos em equipamentos de switchgear e os projetos de data centers cancelados são os primeiros sintomas de um sistema elétrico batendo no limite.

Aschenbrenner viu isso anos antes do resto do mercado. Os retornos são registro público.

A era em que o trade de IA era comprar Nvidia acabou. O verdadeiro trade agora é quem controla os elétrons.
