always really funny whenever Something Happens and there's a massive organic public reaction and the media feels like it has to go "no, NO! Bad public!"
where are the mentorship programs beyond like local AIGA chapters/ADPlist if youre in ux? unionization pushes or even pushes for more agencies to become cooperatives? this field cannot keep going on the way it is as some weird petty bourgeois artisan field in the decades to come.
It's a points like this that GDP as a metric starts to break down. Because if you actually visit Mississippi, and then visit France or Germany, I am doubtful you'll come away with the thought "wow Mississippi sure is great compared to these impoverished shitholes"
This is always what it was going to be used for btw. It’s not some great equalizer. It’s a way for already massively wealthy execs to add a few more mil to their annual bonuses by cutting creative teams entirely & having a machine vomit up the most boring slop imaginable instead
Rashida won in a state Kamala lost, in districts that flipped from Biden to Trump. These people didn’t suddenly turn right wing, they were actively lost by the Democrats who chose to ignore and patronize them.
NEWS: More than 200,000 subscribers have canceled their digital subscriptions to the Washington Post after the revelation that owner Jeff Bezos blocked an endorsement of VP Harris.

New UNEP emissions gap report highlights a "massive gap between rhetoric and reality" and calls for a "quantum leap" in ambition to deliver Paris goals, as the world is way off-track today.
I cover the details over at @CarbonBrief: https://t.co/PKae14c066
So incredibly aggravating that notion will make things nobody asked for instead of improving the features they continually ship half baked (e.g. databases in Cal). Almost like Google expect they let the features rot in front of users instead of deleting them 🫠
This extends to design too. Sust. design is often not about the act of designing. It's structural actions like managing our workplaces, distributing surplus, sharing non-rivalrous goods, and generally doing anti-capitalist things. Hard part is design is fully in capital's pocket.
@domesticetch I'd love to 🙋🏽♂️ I write a newsletter every 2 weeks abt design & the climate crisis, and a lot of my work talks about the hurdles we face going forward. I think there's already a realization that nihilism is just as bad as hyperoptimism & many are now trying to find the sweet spot.
people have been posting a lot about this article for the obvious reasons, but it's also deeply worrying for a specific reason: suicides like these are one of the core reasons the Nazis switched from guns to gas chambers
Today I visited the Sahel hospital in southern Beirut the morning after Israel claimed - without evidence - that hundreds of billions of dollars in gold and cash were stored in the basement and used to fund Hezbollah.
I had unrestricted access to all areas, including the basement and all I found were the normal things found in any hospital, in any country across the world.
The hospital director believes it will be bombed by Israel, repeating a pattern seen in Gaza, with attempts to link the hospital to Hezbollah a smokescreen to justify an attack.
We had to leave the hospital with drones flying overhead with the potential for Israel to strike at any moment.
Lebanon’s health ministry has called on the international community to speak out and break its silence on Israel’s war crimes with around 150 health workers killed in Israeli attacks.
At least four people including a child were killed as Israel bombed the vicinity of the Rafik Hariri Hospital on Monday night while 14 people were killed in Jnah, wiping out two families.
With a ceasefire seemingly out of reach, Israel’s bombing continues with no end in sight.
