On its map, the editors compared the area of Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia with equivalent regions in other European countries — to vividly illustrate a scale that many in the West simply don’t grasp.

If you were to place the occupied part of Ukraine on France, it would cover almost all of Normandy and part of the Paris region; on Poland — about half of Mazovia; on Germany — all of Brandenburg and Berlin.

Israeli football fans have issued an outrageous slur on Poland. Here are the facts to set the record straight.

During World War II, more than six million Polish citizens died. Three million were Polish Jews, part of a thriving community that had found refuge in Poland for centuries against Russian pogroms. The rest? Non Jewish Poles.

Unlike every other European nation under Nazi occupation, Poland never had an SS unit created. There was no Polish quisling government cooperating with the Germans.

Poland had the largest resistance movement in occupied Europe and was the first to inform the outside world of the Holocaust - warnings that were ignored by the Allies.

There are thousands of examples of Poles risking their lives to save Jewish people during the war. This is why Poles are the largest group recognised as Righteous Among the Nations at Yad Vashem.

I was honoured to meet one of them, Józef Walaszczyk, who saved more than 50 Polish Jews through extraordinary bravery. His story is recorded on my YouTube series, The Price of Life.

Yes, there was anti-Semitism in Poland before, during, and after the war, but to suggest that Poles had any hand in orchestrating the Holocaust is a gross distortion of history - an insult to a nation that suffered horrendously under Nazi rule and to those who stood against genocide at the cost of their lives.

The truth matters.

Today is the 105th anniversary of the Polish Army launching its counteroffensive against the Soviet Red Army on the outskirts of Warsaw.

In the Battle of Warsaw, 20 000 Red Army soldiers were killed, 30 000 wounded & 100 000 captured.

Defeating the Russians in war is possible.

The Poles, the Germans, the British, the Turks, the Swedes, the Balts, the Afghans and the Chechens have all done it.
