I moved to Austin 13 years ago. I did not know a single person in the city. My first apartment was $400/month, and I had 3 random roommates. Despite the challenges of moving to a new city, I felt like Austin had amazing people, great opportunities, and a place for me to grow.
Last night, Workweek was chosen by a panel of judges for the Austin A-List awards as the best startup at the Series A level. We also were nominated for the C-Suite Leader award and People's Choice.
It's a full-circle moment and one I feel incredibly grateful about.
This team is unbelievable, and I'm the most excited I've ever been about what I'm building.
And that's what it's all about. We're having fun. We're making work fun, and we're just getting started.
๐ A big milestone for Claim and some exciting newsโฆ
Weโre thrilled to announce our $12 million Series A led by the amazing team at VMG Technology, with participation from our previous leads at Sequoia Capital and Susa Ventures, as well as our new partners, Lightbank and Metalab! ๐
I'm proud to make two big announcements today for Workweek:
We've launched a Professional Network Platform and to help accelerate our success, we've raised a $12.5M Series A financing round.
We're on a mission to help Gen Z save money while discovering new things with friends every week.
Introducing Streaks: the new way we're rewarding our most loyal Claimers. With Streaks, we can offer the best Claims to our users most likely to convert. The higher the streak, the rarer the Claim ๐ฅ
Threads exec: Hey so our giant festering algorithm of misery has been really profitable but it's not very fun and people are mad all the time :(
Meta exec: Have you tried offering someone $500 to pretend to be happy? :)
Threads exec: *Begins to reflect deeply*
Instagram invited some Threads creators this month to join a challenge focused on posting content related to โpositivity,โ for a chance to win up to $500.

@samobletz The missing ingredient in downtown SF that exists at the High Line and lots of parks in SF is distinct, organic culture. For a while, there was a "tech" culture downtown, but no longer. Culture has shifted to the neighborhoods. Next time try Dolores, Lafayette, or Alta Plaza!
Somewhere along the way, most of the value proposition of influencers has disappeared.
My social feeds are now full of unrelatable people with fake podcasts shilling products I can't trust - so I scroll right past.
All my big purchases are made through friends now - via unpaid, unbiased endorsements in group chats and over coffees - most recently AG 1 via @OneBandwagonFan.
@claim is the first social spending platform that understands this new paradigm and gives me what I really want: a way to save money when I try things my friends like. Such a blast to work on it with @samobletz, @tapstephenson, and the team.
@fahdananta The key to this kind of place is having a co-pilot that helps you maximize return on invested time based on your goals. Ex. Strength training and steak for dinner one evening and intermittent fasting + pilates another morning etc. I know @CambreanHQ is working on the latter part.
@darrenrovell@djskee Every major music tour should have fashion sponsors if the artist wants and custom tour clothing lines that can be sold like jerseys with rev share for artists.
