My no-trade zone is clear: no new entries unless QQQ is above a 50-day MA that’s higher than 10 sessions ago, its 20-day trend is clean (R² ≥ .35), and price is ≥5% above the 200-day MA.
No green light, no trade. Do I miss leaders during a red zone? Yes. Do I care? No.
Are you going to listen if I tell you half of the time in a year you just don't trade anything and it could at least 2x your return? Or are you rather enjoying clicking, clicking, clicking?
@ohiain Well said. Environment is critical but many traders overlooked. It’s not looking as sexy and folks just want action. I learnt the hard lesson and resonate how important the letter M is in CANSLIM. I ask myself the same question every day: do you just want click or make money.
@RealSimpleAriel Recently reviewedall my historical trades using a customized choppy metric to backtest. It tells me if I simply do not trade in the choppy period, I could avoid most of the DD and multi-x my account. All other tactics underperform vs. sit tight. Intuitive but still mind blowing.
@aleabitoreddit You can call the recent move head & shoulder (bearish) or double bottom (bullish) depends on your view. But IMO the use of TA is to bet with managed risk. If you're wrong, you lose small. If you win, you win big. TA is not the Bible but a useful tool to give you an edge.
