There's a healthy way to do that but it can get stupid and toxic pretty quickly, and all the sports betting shit that's everywhere now has definitely made it a whole lot worse.

I think a lot of it is that sports fandom, and baseball fandom especially, is partly about the illusion you/we have some control over what happens. If we just interpret things and armchair coach well enough, we are willing our team to victory.

@LukewSavage That's the general nature of sports talk radio/TV. It bleeds into the commentary of the TV game announcers sometimes too. I loath that. I watch games on MLB via ESPN, which gives me the option to switch broadcasters, which I do if they start doing that crap.
