Uganda’s power supply remains stable and secure. However, to address emerging governance and accountability issues at Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited @UEDCLTD and strengthen oversight, the Government of Uganda @GovUganda and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development @MEMD_Uganda have undertaken targeted measures to safeguard service delivery and operational efficiency.
These actions, led by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, are part of routine governance to reinforce accountability and institutional performance. I assure all Ugandans that electricity distribution services will continue uninterrupted during this transition.

Today, we held a special council meeting to debunk the malicious allegations on the controversy surrounding the project at Nakivubo channel.
We thereafter came up with the following resolutions:
1. We condemned Ham enterprises for sealing off Nakivubo channel without the permission of the relevant authorities and we declared that the project must be halted immediately
2. We also directed the Lord Mayor His Worship Erias Lukwago to retract his media statements alleging that council sold off Nakivubo channel because records have it that we have never discussed Nakivubo channel on 3rd April 2025 and we wish to inform the general public that the Lord Mayor has been misrepresenting council and he must withdraw his statements publicly.
3. The list circulating on social media was misinformation and the record of council is very clear that all councillors attended. We requested the general public to disregard the false list and instead adopt the authentic record available at Council.
4. We resolved that Article 99 of the constitution of the Republic of Uganda which has the guiding laws and due process that must be invoked and the President’s letter has been condemned in all manner
5. Hamis Kigunddu should stop all the works on Nakivubo channel with immediate effect till the due process is followed
We therefore wish to reaffirm that we stand with the general public specifically the people of Kampala who entrusted us with their mandate to serve them. We cannot at any point in term trade them for anything and we shall always consider them crucial stakeholders whose trust cannot be compromised. The allegations that have enveloped mainstream and social media are baseless and devoid of anything close to the truth. I wish to emphatically state that the Council I preside has never held any session in regard to the Nakivubo channel project, and in the same spirit we do not endorse or support that aforementioned project.

The Works Ministry and the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) have started implementing President Museveni’s directive to sack 152 staff who were reportedly recruited irregularly.
In a letter to Works and Transport Minister, Gen. Katumba Wamala dated 25, June 2025, the President demanded the immediate sacking of the staff after he got information that they were hired on account of fake academic qualifications. @UgandaCAA@ubctvuganda@vluggya
