At the EU–Western Balkans Summit in Tivat, I reaffirmed that Kosova is ready for the next step on its European path. We have delivered reforms, aligned with EU values, and remain committed to a fair, merit-based accession process. 🇽🇰🇪🇺
Congratulations to @larsloekke on your reappointment as FM of Denmark.
Wishing you every success in your renewed mandate. I look forward to continuing our close cooperation and advancing the strong partnership between 🇽🇰 and 🇩🇰.
@DanishMFA
A pleasure to host President of the European Council @eucopresident António Costa in Prishtina today, days ahead of the EU–Western Balkans Summit in Tivat.
At this renewed momentum for enlargement, Kosova stands as a reliable, value-driven partner of the EU, fully aligned with CFSP including sanctions against Russia, contributing to the security of our continent, and advancing democracy at home.
With proven progress in strengthening the rule of law and democratic institutions, with gains in freedoms and the fight against corruption, and becoming one of the fastest-growing economies in the region, Kosova has earned the next steps: candidate status and the opening of accession negotiations.
It was a pleasure to welcome yesterday in Prishtina @HoxhaFer, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, a country with which we share a special relationship.
We discussed the deepening of cooperation in various sectors, including diplomacy, energy, and railway infrastructure.
We also spoke about the importance of coordination in foreign policy and of close cooperation in the Euro-Atlantic integration processes of both countries, as well as advancing regional engagement.
Kosova stands in full solidarity with Romania following the Russian drone strike in Galați that injured civilians and violated Romanian airspace.
At a time when Europe’s security faces growing threats, respect for sovereignty and international law remains fundamental. We stand with the Romanian people. 🇽🇰🇷🇴

Sincere condolences to Prime Minister @Bart_DeWever and the entire people of Belgium after this morning's tragic train and bus accident in Flanders. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of those killed, and we wish a speedy recovery to those injured.
On this 🇺🇸 Memorial Day, in the name of the Government and people of Kosova, I convey the thanks of our Republic to all the American soldiers who have contributed to our liberation and to the continuing security and prosperity of our country. On this solemn day, let us also remember all those who gave their lives for the eternal values of freedom, equality, and democracy.
Bilateral defense cooperation between Kosova and the United States is stronger than ever. This is in large part due to the overwhelming bipartisan support that Kosova enjoys in the U.S. Congress.
I had the pleasure to hold a virtual meeting tonight with four of Kosova's most important congressional allies: @RepKeithSelf, @RepRitchie, @RepMikeLawler, and @RepGLatimer. I thanked them for their joint sponsorship of two major resolutions in support of Kosova, calling respectively for Kosova's accession to NATO and for U.S. forces' ongoing participation in KFOR.
Our wide-ranging conversation touched on a number of key topics, such as: our Government's longstanding position that Camp Bondsteel should be made a permanent military base; the importance of universal recognition of Kosova among NATO member states; the Draft Framework Agreement on Defense Cooperation between Kosova and the U.S.; and the upcoming establishment of the Kosova Gendarmerie.
I look forward to continuing to work closely with Reps. Self, Torres, Lawler, and Latimer on promoting our bilateral defense cooperation — for the sake of both regional security and the shared democratic values of Kosova and the United States.
Today in @GLOBSEC, Prague, attended panel “Holding the Line on Democratic Resilience”. Alongside distinguished panelists, a fruitful discussion on how democracies withstand pressure from within and without.
Kosova has built its democratic resilience through genuine partnership between national institutions and the international community, and we intend to protect and keep it that way.🇽🇰
It was a pleasure to welcome Kevin Hamilton, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Partnerships, to Prishtina today for his first visit to our country. We discussed Kosova’s growth, including in the fields of technology and defense, which also encompasses ammunition production in Kosova. We also discussed regional security, the strong partnership with NATO, and ways to further deepen it.
📍Honoured to represent 🇦🇱 Albania at the Council of Europe Ministerial in Chișinău 🇲🇩. At a time of war, foreign interference and pressure on democracy, Albania supports a stronger, more proactive CoE, accountability for Russia’s aggression, unwavering support for Ukraine, and Kosovo’s long-overdue membership in the Organisation.
A pleasure to host Commissioner @MartaKosEU in Prishtina today in her first visit to Kosova.
Kosova is the most reliable partner in the EU accession process, with one of the highest levels of public support for EU membership in the region and beyond. I shared with Commissioner Kos Kosova's democratic progress, economic growth, and advancements in EU reforms. I appreciate her dedication to our region and her commitment to a merit-based enlargement process with EU values at the center.
41 months after we applied for EU membership, it is time for Kosova to receive its candidate status and open the accession negotiations. The EU accession process will further consolidate Kosova's democracy, increase economic growth, and improve the well-being of our citizens which is a shared goal and a mutual interest.
🇲🇩 In Chișinău today for the 135th ministerial session of the Council of Europe @CoE. 46 member states around the table. In a Europe shaken by war, polarisation and foreign interference, this organisation must remain our democratic anchor.
Three priorities for Belgium.
First, justice for Ukraine. Belgium will be among the founding states of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression. Justice is not an optional extra in diplomacy, it is a condition for lasting peace. Serious violations of international law cannot go unpunished.
Second, migration. We must be able to talk about it clearly, without taboos and without naivety. But never at the expense of what underpins our democracies: the rule of law, the independence of the Strasbourg Court, and the universality of human rights. A common declaration has been adopted by unanimity. On the topic of migration, @coe has managed to bring together national viewpoints and the Court's case-law addressing the contemporary challenges of migration and ensuring the full respect for the ECHR.
Third, democratic resilience. Disinformation is a strategy aimed at dividing our societies and undermining our institutions. Europe needs a coordinated response to disinformation and hybrid threats.
46 member states united in Chișinău. That is powerful. But our family is not yet complete. Kosova has held elections recognised as free and fair. Its citizens deserve to be part of the Council of Europe and to benefit from the protection it offers. Belgium will continue to push for that.
Thank you for the warm welcome to Moldova, dear @MihaiPopsoi! 🤝
@BelgiumMFA @BelgiuminCoE @BelgiumKosovo@KonjufcaGlauk
Great pleasure meeting EU Enlargement Commissioner @MartaKosEU today. We discussed Kosova’s European path, the need for a fair and merit-based enlargement process, and our shared commitment to reforms, democracy and a more united Europe.
DUA by @Blertabb premieres today at @semainecannes , a landmark first for Kosova cinema. Set in the Kosova of the 1990s, it carries a story of girlhood, identity and survival to one of the world’s most prestigious film stages.
Pleased to join the EU–Western Balkans informal meeting in Brussels today.
Kosova is firmly committed to our shared European path: reforms, alignment with EU foreign policy, sanctions on Russia and support for Ukraine.
A united, enlarged 🇪🇺 is essential for regional stability. We call for merit-based progress — candidate status, opening of accession talks — and recognition by the five remaining 🇪🇺 states.
Serbia must accept mutual recognition for genuine good-neighbourly relations.
Ready for concrete outcomes at next month’s Summit in 🇲🇪.
Delighted to participate today at the MED9++ VTC ministerial meeting on food security & fertilizer access, marking Kosova's first participation in this important format.
Alongside 40+ countries, co-chaired by 🇮🇹 DPM/FM @Antonio_Tajani, 🇭🇷 FM @grlicradman & @FAO DG Qu Dongyu, we discussed the urgent need for international coordination to safeguard fertilizer supply chains and prevent a global food crisis.
🇽🇰 supports freedom of navigation, regional stability, and coordinated international action through multilateral platforms like MED9.
CERD has confirmed a concern long raised by Albanians in the Presheva Valley: address passivization has discriminatory effects. The 🇽🇰 Assembly’s April 24 resolution treated this as an institutional responsibility. 🇷🇸 must address CERD’s findings, with international follow-up.
Honoured to be part of #Kosova delegation led by Prime Minister @albinkurti at the 8th European Political Community Summit, held in Yerevan, #Armenia, on Monday.
Together with more than 40 leaders and their delegations, we addressed the pressing challenges of protecting democracy, security, and freedom in Europe amid today’s volatile global context.
Congratulations to the @armgov and @EPCArmenia for the excellent organisation and warm welcome.
I had a productive and friendly meeting with Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence @HMcEntee in Dublin today. We discussed bilateral relations and Kosova’s EU path — including our membership application, formally submitted in December 2022 and still awaiting Council action. I requested Ireland’s active support in advancing it and wished success as it assumes the Council Presidency. 🇽🇰🇮🇪
