Myanmar's junta regime conducted an airstrike targeting a civilian hospital in Kyaukme town during mid-day today resulting in the deaths of two CMDer nurses and injuring at least 20 patients in northern Shan state. The town of Kyaukme has been administered by the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) since it successfully seized control last year from decades of the junta regime's control.

The attack is part of a broader pattern of violence and ongoing activity by the junta regime. On 30 November last year, airstrikes executed by the junta claimed the lives of 11 individuals, including several Buddhist monks, while critically wounding 11 others when a Buddhist monastery was struck.

Kyaukme is strategically located near Pyin Oo Lwin in the Mandalay region, standing as the second town following Naungcho.

The junta regime's frequent airstrikes targeting civilian populations remain largely unaddressed by the international community, suggesting an alarming acquiescence to its actions against its own citizens. Since the military coup in February 2021, thousands of innocent civilians have been killed as a result of these persistent airstrikes.

Despite widespread condemnation and calls for accountability, the regime continues to conduct operations that disregard fundamental human rights and humanitarian principles, creating a pressing humanitarian crisis that demands urgent attention and action from the global community.

The flood crisis in Myanmar has further compounded the already severe humanitarian emergency caused by the brutal military junta (SAC). Many victims were forced to spend entire nights on rooftops or in trees to survive. Over 19 million people are now in urgent need of life-saving humanitarian assistance. The international community must act swiftly to ensure unimpeded humanitarian support reaches Myanmar, as mandated by the UN Security Council's resolution, to alleviate the suffering on the ground.

On September 5, 2024, the brutal military junta in Myanmar dropped two 500-pound bombs on the Bangkok IDP camp in Phegon Township, located on the Shan-Karenni State borders. This horrendous attack claimed the lives of at least 10 civilians, including school children and teachers, while leaving many others critically injured. This tragic incident further proves the urgent need for sanctioning jet fuel and jet parts, which is crucial for civilian protection. The international community must do everything in its power to impose sanctions on the junta's access to jet fuels and jet parts and hold the military junta (SAC) accountable for their ongoing crimes against humanity under international law.

Two years ago today, pro-federal democracy leaders Ko Jimmy, Ko Phyo Zeya Thaw (Member of Parliament), Ko Hla Myo Aung, and Ko Aung Thura Zaw were brutally executed by the military junta in Myanmar for their unwavering fight for federal democracy. The grieving families were denied the right to say goodbye to their loved ones, who ultimately sacrificed their lives for freedom. Though the brutal military junta has taken them from us, their hopes and belief in freedom and federal democracy can never be taken away from the millions of brave people in Myanmar. Our total victory for federal democracy and justice is nearer than ever before in the history of Myanmar.
