I dunno guys, maybe we should ditch 'Marxism' as an identity in the 2020s and build a movement that looks to the future instead of the past. It started as a tool for free thought and political action. I don't think it is that any more.
Politicians claiming to be “Left” should be ditching the political theater, uniting to meet poor and working-class people where they’re at, and developing bottom-up, municipalist strategies with communities (in communities) in the lead-up to an international, #DualPower movement.
Something the “Left” desperately needs to understand, and quickly:
1) The future of organizing is going to be more spontaneous and decentralized (whether you like it or not).
2) The goal shouldn’t be to organize others, but rather to help others organize themselves in new ways.
People can't even bring in supplies to @1492LBL without being arrested by OPP, but white settlers can burn down an entire Mik'maw lobster pound with no consequences. The RCMP claimed they had no idea about the fire this morning. This is colonial terrorism.

Racist violence by non-native fishermen in Mi'kma'ki supported by gov'ts & cops is not new. It was never about conservation. Non-native fishermen wld rather destroy resource then let Mi'kmaw have a share. Real issue = maintaining death grip over Mi'kmaw lands waters & resources.
Our Labour Council (@HalifaxLabour) strongly condemns continued violence and intimidation by a mob of racists in southwestern Nova Scotia targeting Mi’kmaw fishers.
We support indigenous treaty fishing rights.
We are all treaty people.

& elections themselves bring out the absolute worst in people, both politicians who lie, and supporters who cajole, bully, and antagonize. The worst things politicians do in power is based on electoral-self preservation, preparing for the next election
Also, electoral campaigns are an undemocratic process- they reduce the world f politics into personality conflicts and sports team colors. They make voters into consumers for political products, & force compelled choices between small groups of power brokers in patronage networks
If NDNs were shooting flares at fishermen, attacking boats, stealing gear, cutting traps, there would be swift government intervention and deployment of militarized police. What’s happening on Mi'kmaw territory, with silence from the settler state, is deplorable.
