The non-fulfillment of maternity entitlements under the National Food Security Act, 2013, and PM Matru Vandana Yojana is a serious concern.

Under Dr. Manmohan Singh’s leadership, the NFSA mandated ₹6,000 per child for pregnant women in the informal sector. However, the PMMVY (2017) provides only ₹5,000 for the first child and extends to the second child only if it's a girl.

In 2022-23, 68% of pregnant women received at least one installment, but this dropped to just 12% the following year. Why has the Union Govt let this happen?

The scheme requires ₹12,000 crore annually, but the 2025-26 allocation for Samarthya is only ₹2,521 crore—a clear violation of the law passed by Parliament.

Despite being peaceful and law-abiding citizens, we are denied the protection of our rights and security. The recent escalations only deepen our fear and despair. Our demand is clear: a Separate Administration with Union Territory (UT) status. This is not just a political statement but a demand for the protection of our fundamental rights under the Indian Constitution. As guaranteed by the Constitution, we have the right to protest, to self-determine our future, and to live in peace. The Government of India must acknowledge these rights and provide a peaceful, viable solution. We can no longer tolerate the denial of our basic human rights.

Regardless of one's perspective, the reality remains that Manipur's former Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh, and his cohorts have effectively created a division between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities, emotionally, physically, and geographically. This separation has resulted in a fundamental transformation, rendering it impossible for anyone to reunify Manipur as it once was, even with the use of force. The consequences of this bifurcation will be long-lasting and far-reaching, whether we like it or not.
