That scar on your arm is a battlefield, and the chemistry of how it forms is completely different from any other vaccine you've ever received.
Most vaccines inject dead or weakened pathogens into your muscle. Your immune system sees the threat, builds antibodies, done. No lasting damage to the tissue. The BCG tuberculosis vaccine does something radically different. It injects live Mycobacterium bovis bacteria directly into the top layer of your skin, the dermis, and then lets them multiply.
For the first six weeks, those bacteria are actively replicating at the injection site. Your immune system detects them and sends macrophages to engulf the invaders. T-cells get recruited to the area. Then something happens that no other routine vaccine triggers: your body builds granulomas. Those are organized clusters of immune cells that physically wall off the bacteria like a biological quarantine zone. The immune system can't fully kill every bacterium, so it builds a containment structure around them instead.
That containment war destroys tissue. The granulomas break down the dermis. A blister forms, then an open ulcer that weeps for weeks. The entire process from injection to final scar takes about three months. What you're left with is the structural aftermath of your immune system demolishing a section of its own skin to contain a live bacterial colony.
The wild part: 4 billion doses administered since 1921. 100 million newborns receive it every year. And the size of your scar correlates with how strong your immune response was. Studies in West Africa found that infants who developed a visible scar had half the mortality rate of infants who didn't. Not just from TB. From everything. The scar tissue itself became a marker that your immune system trained correctly.
That circular mark is the one vaccine scar that actually means something went right. Your body fought a live infection in a controlled space, won, and left the evidence on your skin for life.
Some people would argue that statements like this are aimed solely at stigmatising divorced women.
However, I disagree and I’ll tell you why.
Research has proven that proximity to whatever you desire is one of the fastest ways to achieve it.
It is for this reason that people are advised to move closer to wealthy people to understand how they think and also be exposed to money-making opportunities, and a lot of people have become rich this way.
If it is true that proximity to a wealth-creation environment positively influences your ability to make money, then it is also true that proximity to a negative environment will impact you negatively.
Now, a divorced person is not necessarily a bad person, but the process of divorce messes up your idea of love, romantic relationships, and marriage so badly that that negativity tends to become a part of you.
And marital issues that an unmarried or never-divorced person would view from an objective and optimistic perspective would be viewed by you from a subjective, pessimistic, and negative lens.
You can therefore no longer offer credible marital advice to friends who are obviously having marital issues but still want their marriage to work, and you become a threat to such marriages.
I must mention that this is true of both divorced men and women and is not limited to women alone.
But the difference is that community bonding among women is much stronger than it is among men, which is why there are more female social groups than there are male, and why women's groups in churches, for instance, are more vibrant than men’s.
The implication of this socialisation among women is that the ideas, ideology, and lived experiences of some women in a social group easily rub off on other women, and women are more prone to be influenced by the experiences of the divorced women they associate with.
So, while it is true that statements like this might stigmatise divorced women, it also protects married women, and I agree with Mrs Ibiyeome’s submission that married women who want their marriages to work should never make friends with divorced women.
Nigeria just set 150/400 as the minimum university admission score. That's 37.5%.
Polytechnics? 100/400. A pass mark of 25%.
This is how nations fail.
Meanwhile:
🇨🇳 China — 10 million students compete annually in the Gaokao. One exam. Brutal. No mercy. You either earn your place or you don't.
🇰🇷 South Korea — the Suneung is so serious that military drills stop, flights are rerouted, and the entire country goes quiet on exam day. 31% of students retake it to improve.
🇯🇵 Japan — entrance exams are so rigorous that students spend years in preparation school (ronin) just to qualify.
Oxford and Harvard don't lower the bar so more people can get in. They raise the bar so the best are forced to rise.
Nigeria has over 200 million people, the talent exists, but when you tell a generation that 37.5% is enough, you get garbage in, garbage out — at every level of public life.
The crisis in Nigeria isn't just political. It starts here.

The JAMB score that got me admitted into the university years ago was 225.
I applied for Mass Communication. I was admitted into Theatre Arts instead.
225 could not get me admitted into Mass Communication.
Today, the minimum scores for admission into universities and polytechnics are 150 and 100.
While candidates seeking admissions into Education, and Agriculture programs are now exempted from UTME
Education is being undermined before our very eyes.
Pathetic. Shameful
Translation:
The Heads of Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria have unanimously agreed that Nigerians are now dumber than we used to be, but they need to keep taking money from us…so let’s lower the bar.
Very interesting times ahead!💯🔥🔥

Ignorance of the law is no excuse
From the people's parliament
I have an opinion: if a man is willing to beg for sex, plead for it, or pay for it, then he may also be capable of trying to take it by force when denied—rápe.
When someone isn’t given something they want, especially something they believe they deserve, the brain can interpret that denial as a threat. Not a physical threat, but a threat to ego, control, or status. And when people feel threatened or powerless, one instinctive response is to regain control. For some, that shows up as trying to take by force what wasn’t freely given.
Rejection can wound pride. The brain processes social rejection in areas similar to physical pain. For some individuals, especially those with fragile self-esteem, being denied feels humiliating, and when sex is refused, that’s a form of denial. Force becomes a distorted way to restore dominance or avoid feeling small.
This is why it’s important for men to understand that sex is not something handed to them as a gift or a reward from a woman. It’s not something men gain while women lose.
So there’s no reason to beg for it, plead for it, or pay for it. It should be a shared experience between two people who are naturally attracted to each other and willing to participate.
