@soothedspirit People forget that things aren't black and white, there's grey areas. I have memories where I only remember the emotion, or times where I don't remember the emotion but I remember the setting. It also depends on who is fronting sometimes.

@soothedspirit We (thankfully) found that just reading through the criteria for dissociative amnesia itself helped us understand it a lot better. Though we far prefer the ICD's entry over the DSM's entry :P

I think a lot of people also fundamentally misunderstand exactly what “amnesia” is... Too many people push the idea that being a DID system requires full blackouts and living life in a complete haze at all times when in reality amnesia can encompass tons of different experiences

@carnationthorns @illestdottore (2/2) it was a lot more overwhelming as a teen, I hated new alters sometimes, but now we're older, understand eachother better. We have our ups and downs, I have no issue if more crop up/no longer dormant, bc we all know how to handle it, whether willed or not. just how we work

@carnationthorns @illestdottore Kinda how we are! We dont plan to integrate and we actually enjoy having a lot of us, we had more issues with plurality while a teen, but now communication is fairly decent- not to say it doesn't have issues but yk. We sometimes want certain alters to exist ! (1/2)

Hi, so the woman who carried and gave birth to me was 13 years old, celebrated her 14th birthday only days before I was born. I should’ve been aborted. It’s really terrible that she was made to carry and birth a baby while she was a child herself.

Am I happy to be alive? Yes. Absolutely. Very happy to be here. Would I be mad had I been aborted? No, I wouldn’t exist, I wouldn’t feel anything. I shouldn’t exist. She was a child. The lives of girls/women are more valuable than fetuses.

@chancesdarling and it made it less traumatic to realized we were plural, lots of ppl only know after sudden breaks that can be very traumatic. I think self dx and researching yourself can really help ease into it instead of shock and pure confusion/fear. They have their place here. (5/5)

@chancesdarling and specialists are even harder to come by. I started realizing I was plural at around 16 (mistook it for kinning), but having diagnosed friends, the online community, and more knowledge, I was able to kind of 'figure it out' on my own with extra help from friends. (3/??)
