I packed the recess with #science & #innovation visits - opening the National Space Test Facility @AucklandUni, met the next generation of drug developers @MWC_CoRE and heard about how science can drive the circular economy @scion
Thank you, my co-authors, collaborators, and the communities from the the Solomon Islands for letting us undertake the archaeological work by Charles and his team, of which this work was derived from. Thanks to the funders, too.
New ancient mitogenomes of ancient Pacific Rats (Rattus exulans) from the Western Solomons suggest continued post-Lapita long-distance connections into Remote Oceania.

@AlexVerry I was fortunate that my species have refseqs to find where the features were on my sequences. @Geneious was super handy with their transferring annotations feature too (although there were some hidden dangers and errors in relying too much on them alone). Good luck!!
It wasn't my PhD submission or its successful defence that warranted a cake - but getting through my first #GenBank submission! 😅 It got to the point in which the promise of cake carried me to the sweet end😂
Tēnā koutou i tēnei ahiahi! Evening, everyone! The Representation in Archaeology webinar panel is about to kick off in a few minutes and we'll be live tweeting along with what is sure to be a fascinating discussion #nzarchaeology
Despite a pandemic, hail and snow, after 15 years on the bucket list we finally undertook the first archaeological survey of New Zealand’s oldest European shipwreck - Endeavour (sunk in 1795). https://t.co/xYYUU6u5f1
*Somebody* asked me about writing a Research Statement. I want to assume you mean to use this for an academic position. Having chaired several tenure-track searches (and participated in some as a candidate, myself!) I think I can offer two pieces of advice.
I dont want to move. I was here first and in my favourite spot. I was in a neat state of flow, too!
By golly, this person is vigorous in their typing!!! 😣😣 Punctuated by dramatic heavy sighs - what is it they're writing??
While trying to study in a quiet library, the computer user who heavily bashes their keys becomes my enemy. Even worse, when that person is sitting next to me 😠😠 There's no real polite way to ask them to quietly tap their keyboard, is there?
