Hurt, Hate, and Hope: A Call for America to Seek Higher Ground

Many of us are deeply hurt—on both sides.

The way we respond to leaders like Trump, Newsom, or Biden shows it.

Hating people we don’t know, assuming the worst, and loathing their existence isn’t healthy or productive.

As a nation, we need a reset—not just a new administration, but a collective inward look.

Are we living out our beliefs? Loving our neighbors? Praying for leaders? Seeking higher ground? Or are we stuck in a spin cycle of division and pessimism?

The Bible says in Matthew 5:44: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” If we’re believers, we need to strive for this, no matter how uncomfortable. And for those who aren’t, we all have values we once held dear.

Are we living up to them?

Here’s a prayer for our nation:
“God, guide our hearts to rise above hate and show love in our actions, our words, and our spirit. Bless our leaders to wisdom, even those we disagree with, and help us to seek guidance, grace, and peace. Amen.”
