I know it's a stretch but wouldn't it be SO iconic if they dyed their hair the same colors they had during Pirate King...? Yeosang already has pink hair so they might as well.....👀

[World Music Awards @WORLDMUSICAWARD]

Happy 28th Birthday to the gorgeous, hugely talented Award-winning Singer, Rapper, Songwriter, Composer, Producer, TV Star, and Fashion and K-Pop Global Icon, the One & Only Hongjoong!👏🎂🎉🌟🐐👑❤️
#Hongjoong became world famous as the leader, main rapper, vocalist, centre, primary composer and creative core of the chart-topping, history-making K-pop group ATEEZ, one of the best-selling K-Pop Bands of the Era! Hongjoong is a high-energy performer, renowned for his powerful voice, sharp, high-pitched rap and charismatic stage presence, and is also one of the most hands-on producers and songwriters in K-pop today! He's called "Captain" due to the group's pirate-themed concept and his leadership role! On stage he often carries the ATEEZ flag, opens performances with a strong presence, and helps maintain the theatrical quality of the group's shows. Hongjoong has been key to the groups global success, writing and producing their signature sound. As of July 2025, he holds the record for one of the highest numbers of credited songs among idols, with 190+ compositions registered with the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), having written and produced a large part of ATEEZ’s catalog including early hits like “Pirate King,” “Wonderland,” “Aurora,” “HALA HALA,” and later tracks like “Guerrilla”! This combination of hands-on music-making and on-stage leadership has been a major engine behind the group’s global success!

Kim Hongjoong is also a very successful artist in his own right! At 16, he wrote his first song and at 17, he sent his first mixtape to KQ Entertainment, becoming their first-ever trainee in 2015. He trained solo for six months before others joined, and his passion even inspired the agency to form ATEEZ! He made his official debut as the leader and main rapper of Ateez on October 24, 2018, with the debut EP 'Treasure EP.1: All to Zero', co-writing 5 of 6 tracks, including the hits "Pirate King" and "Treasure". The EP peaked at No. 7 on the Gaon Album Chart and No. 12 on Billboard World Albums Chart and the rest is history! As ATEEZ's leader and primary composer, Hongjoong's solo endeavors emphasize his rap prowess, introspective lyrics, and production skills. While he primarily focuses on group work, his individual outputs over the years include self-written tracks, collaborations, and album exclusives. From March 2020 to May 2022, Hongjoong released a collection of his own covers of various superstars titled 'BY. HONGJOONG' which included David Bowie's "Space Oddity", Prince's "Purple Rain", Michael Jackson's "Black or White" and Linkin Park's "Numb" among others! In 2022, Hongjoong and fellow Ateez member Yunho were chosen as the new DJs for MBC's Idol Radio Season 3 (Sept. 8, 2022 - December 27, 2023! On November 8, 2023, he released his self-composed song, "A Walker" and on March 11, 2024, Hongjoong released "Eenie Meenie" with Chungha which he co-wrote and co-composed, delivering a standout rap verse praised as one of 2024's best in K-pop! The song peaked at #104 on Korea's Circle Digital Chart and at #6 on US World Digital Song Sales! On August 24, he released his powerful self-composed hit "Why Do You Love" with an amazing music video! On January 15, 2025 he released "SMB" feat. by Odetari which he co-wrote, which was his first international collab, blending hyperpop with K-rap elements! In July 2025, he released his self-written solo Rap Anthem, "NO1" from ATEEZ's Golden Hour: Part.3 'In Your Fantasy Edition', which he debuted during ATEEZ's solo concert in Incheon (July 5–6) causing a sensation! Mid 2025, he released his self written and composed Solo Digital Single "The Glory" ft. themes of triumph and resilience, performed live at select fan events! On November 1, 2025 he premiered his Solo Single "Petit Coussin" via a surreal teaser film featuring Hongjoong in a dreamlike set with LED elements before its official release on his birthday. The Single showcased his artistic vision with experimental sounds, contrasting ATEEZ's high-energy style! On September 18, 2026, he released the pop/R&B track “ENOuGH” with Bazzi, which Hongjoong wrote, composed and arranged! These releases underscore Hongjoong's evolution as a solo artist. In December 2025, Hongjoong was honoured with the Best Choice Award at the 10th Anniversary Asia Artist Awards (AAA), his first personal/solo award. Hongjoong described it as a gift from ATINY for his years as ATEEZ’s captain!

Hongjoong is a live powerhouse, and commanded the Sahara stage at Coachella 2024 with fierce energy, sharp raps, and captivating stage presence as the group made history, becoming the first K-pop boy band to perform there! Hongjoong also proved himself as a true live powerhouse at Morocco’s Mawazine festival, where ATEEZ headlined as the first K-pop act, commanding the stage once again with explosive energy and magnetic presence that attracted the biggest crowd ever in attendance at the festival!

Hongjoong is also a popular DJ under the name NO1, and headlined his first solo festival set at EDC Korea in October 2026!

Hongjoong is a fashion icon who merges style and sound onstage, reinventing his look every performance to radiate both elegance and power. His solo drops aren’t just sonic statements, they’re full visual and sartorial events! As a Paris Fashion Week regular and DIY designer, he weaves his clothing obsession into every release. On September 5, 2023, he became the global brand ambassador for Balmain who named him "The Balmain Prince"! Balmain's creative director Olivier Rousteing praised his "raw charisma" in a 2024 interview. Wherever he goes, he causes a media stir, including his appearance on June 21, 2024, at the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus show in Paris, on September 25, at the Balmain Spring-Summer 2025 show, on September 28, at the Vivienne Westwood Paris Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show and at Paul Smith and Jacquemus during Paris Fashion Week 2025! Hongjoong was the first male K-pop idol invited to a Jacquemus show and consistently turns front rows into statements. His ambassadorships embody his “NO1 LIKE ME” ethos, blending fashion innovation with real-world impact!

Hongjoong is a dedicated humanitarian and World Vision Global 6K Ambassador, focused on clean water access for children. Since 2022 he has made multiple major donations, including ₩10M to World Vision’s Dreaming Children project, ₩50M to the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation, and further ₩50M gifts to World Vision for Children’s Day and global clean water/sanitation projects, earning membership in the Bob Pierce Honor Club for over ₩100M in contributions! He also supported the Polished Man campaign (raising over US$30,000) by painting his pinky fingernail and inspiring thousands of fans to fundraise. In 2025 he donated ₩25M to World Vision’s Dream Wings Club and led a birthday 6K run with ATINY that raised ₩60M for clean water in Africa. In 2026 he was appointed official Global Ambassador and continued the Hongjoong 6K Special Run, quietly driving impact while inspiring ATINYs.

Kim Hongjoong stands out as ATEEZ’s visionary captain, a self-taught producer with 190+ KOMCA credits, Balmain’s first Korean global ambassador and “Balmain Prince”, and a driving force behind World Vision’s Global 6K for Water. Rising from a lone trainee to a Global K-Pop Icon who played at Coachella and hosted his own fashion show, he fuses sharp rap, DIY couture, and quiet activism into a singular “NO1” presence that redefines what K-pop leadership can be!
