You can’t automate what you can’t measure. This means that evals are one of the gates to diffusion of AI in the enterprise.

We can test our deterministic processes through software, but most enterprises have no useful way of understanding how their non-deterministic processes are working today. Specifically the work that agents are doing for them.

Evals are mission critical for enterprises adopting AI because you have no other way of knowing what’s working, what’s broken, what changed, what improved, what you can do more of, etc. if you don’t have a good sense of how agents work in your environment today. All changes, upgrades, and deployments are downstream from good evals.

Not only are we going to get vastly more domain specific evals over time for the labs and across the industry, but every enterprise will also need a clear sense of how agents are performing in their environment as well. Huge opportunity.

The Trump admin is weighing a policy of promoting stablecoin adoption. All you have to do is look at bond yields to see why.

The bank lobby is going to fight this because they fight every kind of progress that erodes their unjustified and underserved monopoly. When they do, it will reveal their true colors.

A stablecoin is always (always!) easier to acquire than a bank account. It's also more functional. Once more assets go on chain, it will be more interoperable too. All else equal, there will always be more demand for stables abroad than dollar accounts.

Banks arguing against such a policy are arguing for lower dollar demand, higher borrowing costs for the US government, higher mortgage rates, etc.

When President Trump arrived in China, Xi Jinping stayed away from the airport and sent Vice President Han Zheng to meet him. That was a diplomatic snub. When Xi arrived in the United States, Trump personally greeted him on the tarmac, an extraordinary act of diplomatic supplication.

This was a shameful choice by an American president. China supplies components used in Iran’s missiles and drones, supports Russia’s war against Ukraine, brutally represses Tibetans and Uyghurs, imprisons Jimmy Lai and other heroes, and threatens our friends and allies in the South China Sea, Taiwan Strait, and elsewhere. Yet Trump treated Xi as though China were our closest ally.

I support diplomatic courtesy. I do not support an American president kowtowing to a leader whose government is working so aggressive against our interests and values.

He can denounce terrorism, call on Hamas and Hezbollah to surrender immediately and unconditionally, and help his fans understand the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including the mistakes made by all sides. He can stand for the human rights of everyone and for a Middle East where everyone can live in safety and peace.

I hope he takes that opportunity rather than continuing to serve as an ignorant and uninformed social media activist building his career on the suffering of others.
