@NickHoopes_ Order a standing leg length film in ortho clinic. Can see if there is a true leg length issue and can visualize pelvis/hips. Rules in/out AVN, SCFE, missed DDH. Gives family peace of mind

@Challenger_ST Too much many games year around in sports like soccer with not enough emphasis on training and mechanics. The amount of “elite” athletes I see who can’t perform a regular squat or lunge is ludicrous. Add in turf….

It makes me sad to have to say this about my own employer - and to be clear - my opinions are my own. This is a Division I University athletics position for 40-42K per year. Assuming a conservative average of 45 hours worked per week over 50 weeks = $18/hour. 1/7

@TomBroback how many “fail.” 3. Family wants some sort of imaging done. Talk about how it usually isn’t needed but it gives them some piece of mind, especially when dealing with growth plates.

@TomBroback Work in peds ortho. Rarely do cortisone shots. See chronic anterior knee pain A LOT. A few reasons I will order x-rays:
1. Rule out OCD, loose body, look for patella abnormality, etc. 2. Insurance requires it before we can do MRI. Usually send to 6-8 weeks of PT but amazing

@chadasplund Shortage of ATS caused the previous group to stop the contract early. A new contract is being worked on with a PT company who is currently looking for ATCs to help feel the spots. Sadly the school district didn’t move quickly. Currently working PRN as an ATC to help fill the gap

@Professor_MRay I work in peds and get this a lot. Tell patients and parents all the time a good chunk of people have mild LLD up to 2.5cm that rarely affect people. Get lots of referrals stating patients need orthotics or adjustments that aren’t usually needed.

Every time the orthopedic surgeons talk to the radiologist tech about getting a perfect circle on fluoroscopy during surgery I can’t help but think of this.
