The official NOAA "budget request" to Congress (which is a detailed version of the "President's Budget" would be devastating, and basically end all research and development.
Purportedly, the proposal moves a lot of weather research and development under NWS, but doing so while eliminating the labs themselves and the CIs would get rid of most of the people and infrastructure that does this critical work.
Fortunately, Congress has the final say on this, so I recommend pressuring your Senators and representatives to step in and continue allocating NOAA the resources to pursue life-saving research.
On Mon 4/14 @ 4pm PT, I will have a special live session to discuss the rapidly unfolding, chaotic, & apparently intensifying actual & proposed cuts to NOAA & NASA that threaten to decimate weather & climate science & prediction in the U.S. See you then. https://t.co/FX1HsEuoM0
This is bonkers!! These are the real world impacts of Federal government cuts. Canceled contract means NOAA research websites slated to go dark https://t.co/pJyjDOtufK
Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us.
So we have a $17.9 billion trade deficit with Indonesia. Its exports to us are $28 billion. $17.9/$28 = 64%, which Trump claims is the tariff rate Indonesia charges us. What extraordinary nonsense this is.

The @gcarbonproject has published its four Global Methane Budget as an ERL paper and pre-print in ESSD; links at the end of thread.
Humans are now responsible for two-thirds or more of all global CH4 emissions
It covers the period 2000-2020, with some extensions up to 2023
Models have overestimated atmospheric levels of hydroxyl radicals, which break down methane. A new discovery shows that water vapor reduces sunlight's availability to make hydroxyl radicals, slowing methane’s atmospheric breakdown rate. https://t.co/FxhlLxkoKs
Without new funding from congestion pricing, the NYC region doesn’t seem capable of keeping basic transportation systems functioning, especially in the face of aging infrastructure and climate change.
