@GiulioRebuffo Indians have to go through a H1B lottery process. So only 10% of these requests will actually be approved.
How does this help Europe though?
@dcbuilder@pcaversaccio@FUCORY Yeah I figured thats why you had such a reaction to this. I don't like world myself but the kind of hate people have spewed at you online is terrible.
@FUCORY@dcbuilder@pcaversaccio We are venting about other people venting right now. Linus vents on linux forums all the time. It's a human thing to do. Why go on this silly tangent. Yes social media is unhealthy. And yet here we are.
@dcbuilder@FUCORY@pcaversaccio I don't think he did it on purpose. Lots of people in the space are just exhausted. Also maybe there is a language culture issue here? I didn't find his tweet that mean tbh :p
@FUCORY@dcbuilder@pcaversaccio This is just silly. People get angry. This is not a complicated thing to understand. The dude is just venting. Don't turn this into a philosophical lesson about inner happiness.
@dhh What % of total American wealth is held by its top 1% vs what % of total Denmark wealth is held by its top 1%? I believe progressive taxation means relatively richer people pay more right?
@dhh@dangroshev That's very fair.
Your charts did highlight that merit isn't distributed equally among cultures. Maybe some other ethic group turns out to be disproportionally better than ethnic Danes for Denmark and end up leading the country at the top!!
@dhh@dangroshev I agree with merit being the criteria not skin color. But then you also say Denmark should overwhelmingly be lead by ethnic Danes. If the best Danes by merit are not ethnic Danes would you be ok with them leading?
@billyboozer@sereedmedia@VicVijayakumar BlackRock is an investor in Automattic for $288M. Matt has raised ~$1B for his company. He asked WP to pay 8% of revenue to Automattic.
@LefterisJP@devanshmehta > Don't just blindly follow highest paying gig. This will end in misery.
You're jumping to extremities to justify your point :)
@LefterisJP@devanshmehta The whole point of a job is money. Otherwise I would just work on cool OSS stuff and call it a day. And my argument is that $100/hr isn't exorbitant. Not that good devs only come for exorbitant pay.
@LefterisJP@devanshmehta The only exception I've seen is extremely exciting technical work. I know plenty of folks who work for much lower pay because they get to work on cool stuff like databases and VMs. I would too :p
@LefterisJP@devanshmehta The OP also says the DAO selection process is tough.
> And averages do matter. Money does not grow on trees. Not every company/DAO is google or has unlimited VC funds.
A bad company failing to make money to pay well and attract talent is just the market being efficient.
@LefterisJP@devanshmehta It's not. The average doesn't matter. The average dev in India makes 1/20th a dev in Google India. If you want the best you gotta pay up. I literally charge AND DO make more and I'm not even close to being the best.
