@HakureiRyan@StealthMode987@AbrasiveSparky@grok In 2008: Working one hour at Grocery Store for $6.55 bought you 7.3 burritos.
In 2026: Working one hour at Grocery Store for $17.00 buys you only 2.8 burritos.
But its not all inflation. back then they sold that burrito at a loss intentionally. They don't do that anymore.
@BestMovieMom Rarely introspective? I feel like every character he played was always deeply internally conflicted and introspective. From Hamlet to Max to Braveheart.
@Ian_Cortex@HoosierGaming27@DonutOperator@SeanMcCarthyCom Half of that is also applied to paying for someone else to prepare food for you. Those factors, and whatever other variables you want to nitpick, won't magically make eating out financially better than home cooking with frugal shopping ingredients. What are we even doing here.
@Ian_Cortex@DonutOperator@SeanMcCarthyCom wtf are you talking about? You don't cook at all do you? white rice steam cooks in 30 mins in a rice cooker and 80% lean will cook to well done in 5 minutes. I normally can get 6 patties for thin in and out style burgers out of a package like that.
@CoronaUchiha@LeadingReport@grok Outliers for sure dropped below $2/gal. You won't see that from AI giving you averages. He didn't say averages at $1.85 though.

@Zapidroid@mark_k There is also an obsession with creating an identity out of the idea of being an artist, not the art itself, but the social signaling behind belonging to a group. It mimics what they do with their political identity closely. Kinda reminds me of highschool a bit.
@amiraliaftabi@Thequipmas46892@_p993@ZackMorrison18 How do you not see that as a major assumption on your part? There are legions of hobbyist creators with decades of experience with production software that are jumping for joy at the prospect of creating something much larger than what they were once capable of thanks to AI.
@amiraliaftabi@Thequipmas46892@_p993@ZackMorrison18 Its already being built into production software and game engines. So many of you want to strawman an argument about generative ai absent of humans remixing the outputs. Where its just a bozo typing a prompt and uploading it, not an artist mixing outputs into layered designs.
@amiraliaftabi@Thequipmas46892@_p993@ZackMorrison18 I mean, one has only to look at youtube to see what production software and camera access has done for creativity. The same will be true with access to AI by allowing them to incorporate aspects to digital production that would've otherwise taken an entire studio to accomplish.
@DBrown24601@Science_FTW_@ZackMorrison18 That's too subjective in nature for me. The market was already oversaturated. Jobs were increasingly outsourced, upper management rife with cronyism. This technology seems far more empowering to individual artists of the world, not just power structures within certain cities.
@redherringdraws@_p993@ZackMorrison18 Because a small few aren't being enriched now? The code behind digital brushstrokes can't escape their underlining design either. It takes a creative process to use any tool. It only erases labor in a stagnant system. And that system deserves to be toppled by this technology.
@redherringdraws@_p993@ZackMorrison18 Yet it will escape the underlying design through humans as we iterate, refine, & integrate outputs into real creative pipelines. Meanwhile, datasets keep growing + tech (arch, synth loops, compute, feedback) improves constantly.
@Atomtoplanck@ZackMorrison18 Never said tools replace artistic drive. They lower external barriers (cost, gear, distribution, technical skill floor) exactly like digital software did for music/editing/VFX. We got vastly more creators + entire new industries because of it. More will participate.
@Science_FTW_@ZackMorrison18 You're just going to keep going in circles because you're strawmanning a weird argument about good storytelling. I'm not trying to subjectively discern what's good or bad from tech demos, but extrapolate what it means in future hands of creators that have stories to tell.
@niftyfilm_io @Science_FTW_@ZackMorrison18 Wtf are you talking about? At least try to articulate something that makes sense instead of trying to project your issues onto me.
@Science_FTW_@ZackMorrison18 You're trying to gatekeep storytelling by arguing that none of the potential users of AI are capable of it. And I'm telling you every artist is capable of expressing more but are limited by resources. That is a barrier they cannot get through. AI will solve that.
@iammark28@ZackMorrison18 There's videos with hundreds of thousands of views. Seems like plenty of people are already watching and the tech is in its infancy. Will they pay to watch it in a theater? /shrug I do know people will be paying to watch it used softly by studios without even knowing.
@Science_FTW_@ZackMorrison18 Reread what I said. "Digital storytelling". The digital aspect to storytelling requires technology. The easier that technology is to use to create a more vivid expression of your dreams, the more the average person can engage with the creative processes.
