A great day @newlanarkwhs today! We had the fabulous Katie Seal with us teaching traditional hand spinning. π§΅
Our group then went on a guided tour behind the scenes of our present day wool production. So cool to see how yarn was spun before the industrial revolution!
@HistEnvScot A fab blog post from Callum! Great to see New Lanark compared to Walkerburn, some great material from Canmore highlighted too. Thanks for featuring New Lanark in your blog Callum βΊοΈ
Love New Lanark? But what about Walkerburn? Both are industrial villages with fascinating stories to tell.
Callum, our Graduate Trainee Heritage Officer, looked into the history of New Lanark and Walkerburn β two industrial villages, two stories π

The second of our #WomensHistoryMonth displays is up in our visitor centre! This week we are focusing on Anne Caroline Owen, whose husband was Robert Owen. We unfortunately don't have any objects related to her but have displayed the few fragments of her we have in the collection
Our first of four displays for #WomensHistoryMonth is now on show! It's been a joy putting my first mini exhibition together and finding four amazing stories from New Lanark's past. First up this month is Lizzie Meek, a millworker who lived most of her life in the village.
It's me! The team at PHH are some of the best around, joining them during my first summer of uni was one of the best things I could have done for my early career. It gave me an amazing start in this sector and helped me make friends for life π°
