Tow days ago, a 2hrs sit-down interview of His Excellency @PeterObi on Channels TV with Seun Okinbaloye was aired. Since then, it has elicited a lot of reactions from supporters and adversaries. In this response, I talked about conspiracies, mischief, laziness within Nigerian journalistic Space and missed opportunities. We also threw a challenge to the Rabid supporters of Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to encourage their principal to come out of the bunkers of Aso Villa to speak to Nigerians. He should come out from hiding to explain his economic policies, Poverty policies, insecurity policies, his lnept leadership and the whole criminality going on in his regime. Mr President should come and have a complete interview with journalists like Mr @PeterObi is doing, not a media chat. His band of supporters should be shameless and have the boldness to hear their deity have an interview or a debate about his criminal administration.

I just had a very disturbing conversation with a South African who is visiting Nigeria, and I am livid.

I’ve been offline for a while, so I’m only just learning about the tragic killing of Chika Ibe, a businessman from Abia State, who was reportedly murdered by South African police officers in his own home in South Africa. This is deeply disturbing, and my thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

Why is this not on the news?
What is the government doing about this?
Why has @GovernmentZA not prosecuted the killers, but hiring @Trevornoah to run ads to visit South Africa, after murdering foreigners.

Why is the whole nation silent? Where is the Giant of Africa to fight for its citizens?

In the past 48 hours, I had the privilege of spending time with Mr Peter Obi, observing his schedule and work ethic up close. It is nothing short of dizzying.

At 65, those of us who are much younger find his energy, discipline, and stamina almost unbelievable. His commitment to work is relentless, and it is easy to see why so many believe in his capacity to lead.

If Mr Peter Obi says he can begin fixing the foundations of Nigeria within four years, having witnessed his work ethic firsthand, I have every reason to believe him.

This is also an opportunity to call on President Bola Tinubu to step out of his bunker in Aso Rock, roll up his sleeves, engage directly with the realities facing everyday Nigerians, ease their suffering, and focus on the job he was elected to do.

Having watched Peter Obi’s interview on Channels TV on Sunday for about 30 minutes, I wasted no time tuning off. If the political nomad thought the interview would re-energise his ebbing 2027 presidential ambition, it turned out to be a PR disaster, judging from the spate of reactions to the many lies he referenced.

Two issues caught my attention while I watched him. 

First, when his interviewer, Seun Okinbaloye, questioned him about his political nomadism, he tried to make the question a non-issue, saying, with a smirk on his face, that he has not done anything different from what President Bola Tinubu has done in his political odyssey.

No, Mr Obi. Tinubu has not been jumping from one ideologically different party to another. Since he joined party politics in 1991/92, Tinubu has stayed the progressive path all the way. He started with the Social Democratic Party and won an election to the Senate on the party’s platform, polling the highest vote ever by any candidate in the country.

When the election of June 12, 1993 was annulled, Tinubu joined the struggle for de-annulment. He didn’t collaborate with the military; he defied the junta, reconvened the National Assembly, joined the protests, went to detention, and when the country became too dangerous, he opted for exile, along with his family, where he continued the struggle against military dictatorship.

When Tinubu returned from exile in 1998, he joined the Alliance for Democracy and was elected the governor of Lagos in 1999. The AD, which Obasanjo wanted to decapitate, went into a factional crisis. Tinubu still won his 2003 election, his second term, with the INEC-recognised faction.

With the AD still in crisis, Tinubu founded a new party, the Action Congress, taking a large number of the AD members to the new platform. Babatunde Fashola, Kayode Fayemi, and Rauf Aregbesola contested on this platform in 2007.

The AC became Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) for the 2011 election. In 2013, the party entered into merger talks with Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), New Nigeria Peoples Party, a faction of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and the new Peoples Democratic Party(nPDP) to form the All Progressives Congress (APC). 

Tinubu remained true to his ideological persuasion: he stayed in the same lane. He didn’t jump to the PDP in 2003, after he remained the last man standing, with fellow AD governors swept out of office by President Olusegun Obasanjo’s brazen rigging machine. Instead, he built a new party from the bottom up, which has grown like an oak tree from an acorn. 

Tinubu is unlike you, Peter Obi. You were elected Governor under the platform of APGA in 2007. You swore with your children and even by the hospital bedside of Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu that you would never leave the party. Not a man of your words, you abandoned APGA after your second term and joined the PDP. You were in the PDP when you ran with the perennial presidential contender and loser, Atiku Abubakar, in 2019.

Your presidential pair lost to Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo of the APC. You did not wait to rebuild the vanquished PDP. Instead, you pursued your selfish interest by joining the Labour Party. You ran as the party’s candidate in 2023. You lost the election and came third behind Atiku and President Bola Tinubu.

The Labour Party fell into a serious leadership crisis after the election, with campaign funds in your possession not fully accounted for. Instead of waiting to solve the crisis and rebuild it into a formidable group like a good leader would do, you again chickened out. You teamed up with Atiku to hijack the political group called African Democratic Congress, a special purpose vehicle. When you found that you would not be able to clinch the group’s presidential ticket in a free and fair primary election, you didn’t hesitate to jump ship to join the court-registered NDC, promoted by a former governor, Senator Seriake Dickson.

It is not in doubt that if the NDC fails to deliver what you want, you are not far away from the exit door. You would shamelessly migrate to yet another party. You do not build; you always want to reap where you did not sow.

The second issue is that Seun gave you a golden opportunity to redeem yourself in respect of the outcome of the 2023 election. You lost, Peter. You didn’t win that election. You came third, and if not for the bloc vote from your ethnic group, you would have ended up a miserable third. Seun pointedly asked you whether you believed you were rigged out. You fell into his trap by concurring. You did well in the election, no doubt- a politician with no structure in the states, except the noisy followers on X, Instagram and Facebook. But I was utterly surprised that more than three years after the Supreme Court threw away your petition, you are still in denial of the loss, and you still nurse the delusion that you won the election, echoing the sentiment of your gullible followers on the streets.
Mr Obi, it is time you accepted the stark reality of the loss. Stop dreaming of a victory that you never had.

NA STATISTICS WE GO CHOP?

I am surprised that after the statement from Tchief Tinubu on 25 November 2022 during his presidential campaign rally in Delta State, cackling “na statistics we go chop” our very handsome president has now promoted himself from hating statistics to manufacturing them.
What he cannot forge does not exist

Since the numbers refused to favour his administration, he has now hired a graphics designer (possibly from the same shop that printed his certificate), and has gone ahead to stamp “FULFILLED” to deceive himself. At least in this government, if reality no gree, Canva go cooperate.

Everyone in APC now “celebrate” statistics but nobody in that party seems to be able to differentiate between a law, a conference, and an actual implementation or accomplishment.

So as usual, LET ME EDUCATE YOU.

1. When did you fulfill the FX reform?
Is there not still persistent volatility?
Has the reform produced a credible foreign exchange market? The naira lost a large share of its value. Businesses struggled to access foreign exchange.
Under this govt, naira has experienced an over 200% depreciation.
$460 when you came, $1600 today.

2. Your administration listing Fiscal discipline and deficit mgt as fulfilled is laughable. Under Tinubu our debt japad from ₦87.4 trn to ₦159.28trn in 18 months, borrowing 4x faster than Buhari, who was already Nigeria's biggest borrower ever. Tinubu is the largest and fastest borrower amongst our last 3 presidents combined. 16 years from Yaradua to Buhari was ₦84trn, just 3 years of Tinubu is ₦72trn as at December.

Also what is our Debt to GDP value? Debt servicing is consuming the largest chunk of government revenue, Interest payments remain high and Fiscal pressure has increased.
We don’t even have a budget, Tinubu has not published a budget report since 2024 but here he is with Oluwole graphics claiming fulfilled.

3. The only foreign investment Tinubu has fulfilled is taking himself to foreign countries. Tinubu has spent over 344 days out of the country since he became President.
Not a single investment announcements under Tinubu has translated into job creation or measurable productivity growth. Just pieces of papers and media propaganda.

4. What is CREDICORP? How many customers right now can access the credit?
Where can I walk in today and easily obtain affordable consumer credit? You people are jokers.

5. Tax Reforms Act, please don’t get me started…
Is this the same Tax Reform Act that sparked outrage over allegations that the gazetted version was different from what lawmakers approved? The same tax reform that was confirmed to the whole nation that was forged. Is that what APC just celebrated as an achievement 😂…Ehhhh nitori olorun

6. What is the achievement in crude oil production? Why hasn’t it translated into lower fuel costs? How much was fuel when Tinubu came to power and how much is it today?
Mr. Subsidy is gone 😭

7. Has electricity become reliable? What has the Tinubu’s govt done with Electricity in Nigeria? From Band A to bandits because we are all operating in the dark.
The existence of legislation is different from improved electricity supply.

8. None of the PIA has been fully implemented. Another immeasurable fallacy.

9. Fuel Subsidy 😭
Tinubuuuuuuu @officialABAT how did you even include this as an achievement? Where is the money Nigeria saved from subsidy? Why are we still borrowing?
This was an economical lifelong injury.
Inflation increased, transportation increased, food costs increased

Why should a government prefer deceit rather than implement projects for its people?
Tell that man to come out from his solar powered bunker and do his job.

The South East has been highly marginalised by this government.

From the lack of erosion projects in communities in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu where homes, roads, and farmlands are consistently lost, to the lack of stable electricity for industrial hubs, to the deeply concerning situation of no Seaport or Deep Sea Port in the entire region which has the most business operators, to the Eastern railway completion. So many projects ignored.
