@luhc Driver fault? NO! Parkeon meters are notorious for truncating the VRM keyed so that cowboy operators can send out £100 PCNs This small selection issued by 1 company. Time for @_TheIPC@BritishParking to wake up to this scam.

How Faulty Ticket Machines Issue Thousand of Fines in Car Parks? https://t.co/FdCDdHLmDy
@BritishParking perhaps this would be a good topic to discuss at the next ParkEx event. @BransbyWilson@BaywatchMinster @DrivingLawer
@BritishParking and @RingGo_parking what advice are you giving to your AOS members to help them cancel PCNs for today 22 Jan 2026 when drivers couldn't use the RingGo App? Surely no one should be penalised for an app that didn't work.
@FantomKen @RingGo_parking It's been reported in major press release. If you can, pay before you leave the car park. Use any alternative means of payment available or if no other means exists ring the contract number on the board telling you how to report failures.
@scott_expert Thank you @scott_expert . This is the most important part of any defence in the small claims court, especially when it comes to alleged parking breaches. Judges know a lot about contract law and not so much about Parking codes of practice.
@GMB I dearly want to know which car park this is that doesn't give receipts and I can probably guess which Operator it was. Derek Millard-Smith doesn't know what he is taking about. There was an Appeal to IAS and it was refused as usual. Court is the only answer to this one Good Luck
@BritishParking can your compliance panel settle an argument please? Is this a major keying error and should it be entitled to a £20 early cancellation fee when presented early at first appeal? @carolowbridge@NeilLancefield
@WHurleyCheshire My story about a BB holder whose badge was shown to the warden within minutes also had her APPEAL REFUSED. Thankfully, the judge saw sense and dismissed her case. We're playing on a very unlevel field when your wardens are forced to maximise the PCNs they issue. No exceptions
@WHurleyCheshire You trawl press to expose celebrities flouting parking rules but never mention the stories about wardens abusing the genuine BB holders whose permits fall off the dashboard A private company warden will never revoke a pcn when the BB is offered there & then but council CEOs do
@WHurleyCheshire Talking of evolving technology, @WHurleyCheshire why are your members, Excel, still using payment machines that not only allow keying errors but positively encourage them. @BritishParking too, please explain Euro Car Parks' dreadful Syston Town Sq rash of keying error PCNs
@DVLAgovuk may i ask, please? What is the minimum number of characters allowed on a UK vehicle's registration? 1 letter? 2 letters? 1 letter and 1 number? I need to know so that I can demand parking machine manufactures stop tickets being printed like this one. Leading to a PCN.
@DavidWalsh_M Yet, they will continue to push all the old PCNs in their unpaid tray to court for the next year. If it's unfair today, the 5 min rule was unfair last year and all the years before. They aren't prepared to jump off the gravy trail just yet.
@scott_expert I'm hoping the BBC in another region will do a feature on this scam. It worked for Rosey so I'm sure with the BBC's help we can expose many more tricks of their trade. The thing is that although these machine are common place, only a very small number of Operators take advantage
@scott_expert Great interview on Look North 19 Feb. Were you aware of the trick that Metric parking machine pull on unsuspecting motorists who follow the instructions on the screen to pay too soon? How do we get the ATAs & IAS/POPLA to recognise this contributes to unfair PCNs.
@scott_expert All this problem started with Excel Parking Services deliberately misusing the Consideration Period to make drivers pay within the 5 minutes. That was never the intention. It's there to let you concider if you want to stay and park. Payment at anytime after is fair.
@pecker2009@tvlicensing@Daily_Express@AsdaServiceTeam@Tesco@LidlGB@Keir_Starmer Actually for once I'm happy to pay for my BBC licence. Thanks to the BBC we have a victory over greedy parking companies like Excel Parking Services and their unreasonable terms and conditions - the 5 minutes rule. More unfair exposures to come I hope. Keep up the good work, BBC
@BritishParking can you tell us which of your members use the 5 / 10 mins to pay T&C. Will they be redacting that on their signs from tomorrow? What steps are you going to take if they continue to issue PCNs for this reason @carolowbridge@pecker2009@DVLAgovuk@WHurleyCheshire
@pecker2009@DVLAgovuk@BritishParking@BaggyShanker@_TheIPC I knew this car park was one of Excel's hotspots 2 years ago. So I made a 150 mile return trip to investigate. I found faults with the newly installed machine and the APP, already on my phone, was presenting me with issues intended to slow me down. If I knew, why didn't the DVLA?
