1. Athena is taking the form of the murdered woman to torment him.
2. It's not Athena at all. He's just seeing her because he feels guilty.

Doesn't particularly matter though, since both serve the same purpose of Troy's destruction haunting him.

@UnderstanderArt I’ll have to watch it again, but on 1st viewing I thought using her as a framing device hurt her scenes. We never get any extended time with her because they keep cutting to the next flashback, which makes it hard to get a sense of who she is or what she wants. She’s just there.

@MuseZack I like it quite a bit too, despite all the flaws, but it clearly took something out of him. Everything’s he made since has been devoid of style. He became a shot/reverse shot guy.

@Felcat1 @JonahDispatch The cancellation came while season 2 was in production. It was supposed to end with Brutus’s death, so they had to scramble for a new ending. That’s why the back half of the season is full of huge time jumps and has major characters dying in every episode.
