Managing Director of the Women's Leadership Initiative at University of Delaware. Promoting gender equity and empowering the next generation of female leaders.
I consider December 14th, 2012 the single darkest day of my presidency. The news from Sandy Hook Elementary was devastating, a visceral blow, and like so many others, I felt not just sorrow but anger at a world that could allow such things to happen.
Today, I signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law.
We are reaffirming a fundamental truth: Love is love, and Americans should have the right to marry the person they love.
Justice Tamika Montgomery-Reeves, the first Black person to serve on the Delaware Court of Chancery & the Delaware Supreme Court, was just confirmed to the U. S. Court of Appeals!
A trailblazer in every sense of the word — she will continue to make Delaware & our nation proud.
When I was born in 1986, my mom struggled to find care that worked for her family, budget, and work schedule. 30 years later, I faced the same issues. Parents, employers, kids, and caregivers deserve more than we have done for them. The time is now to change.

Thank you @POTUS for standing with patients and providers. It was a true honor to shepherd this bill alongside @RepMinor. With the support of @JohnCarneyDE, we will continue to protect fundamental rights and ensure access in the First State.
Thank you to Governor John Carney and Senator @KyleEvansGay for meeting with some of our top female student athletes from across our state. We are here in Leg Hall celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Title IX - the law the transformed education for girls, especially in athletics.
You know what’s wild? How many lawyers say that #Dobbs is bad law & how many docs say it’s bad medicine. Ignoring the privacy issues, autonomy issues& the cruelty, this is a decision by 6 ppl that experts in law & medicine have said is terrible #AbortionIsHealthcare#ProtectRoe
The observance of #Juneteenth in Delaware and across the nation gives every parent an opportunity to share the history of emancipation with their kids. For all of us, it’s a lesson in humility and a reminder to keep working to live up to our shared principles and values.
I drove home from dropping off my kids with a pit in my stomach. I was in 7th grade during Columbine. I trusted that adults would never let it happen again. I know what disappointment and failure feels like. Our kids deserve better. And quite honestly so do we.
While I’m voting on the Senate floor, Alice is with her PopPop at Bonsall Park enjoying a beautiful evening. I’m thankful to do the work I do and thankful for the village that makes it all possible 💙💛
What an honor to be a part of the Senate delegation greeting Dolly Parton on her Royal Visit to the Great State of Delaware.
Dolly was here to celebrate Delaware Libraries and the amazing work they are doing with the Imagination Library!
