@Andie00471 and the bugs!! I get bit by noseeums every time I go out with my dog - I can't imagine going out near that light and/or the portapottys :) [I still have yuck portapotty memories from when I took my son to see the Beach Boys on the mall]
@JamesFLoveIV There are people I cut all ties with during that election season and they spouted the usual: "you'd cut me off only due to political differences?" I said "no - it's moral/ethical differences! Bye!"
@Andie00471 I was already a grown-up and living in Boston at that time. Got to see the USS Constitution sail and got to walk every square inch of it at its dock - saw a lot of history and I'll keep those memories because this 250th sucks - big time!!
To all of those whining about artist's dropping out of the Freedom250 concert:
Ten years ago, Congress established the America 250 foundation to plan our nation's 250th birthday celebration and they've been working on it since.
Trump fired them all and set up his own Freedom 250 celebration focused only on highlighting MAGA and his accomplishments.
These artists were told they were performing at the first only to discover they would be appearing at the second.
I lived in Boston during the bicentennial. Got to see glorious ships sale in Boston Harbor, got to see Old Ironsides sail under its own power, and got to tour the entire ship. I'll keep those memories in mind as I'll have nothing to do with the 250th.
@NPRinskeep Every bit as tacky and tasteless as Trump himself.
What a shame that he has ruined what should be a magnificent celebration of our country's history. For those of you who weren't around for the bicentennial, here's what it was like in NY:
