The OCC has denied a national bank charter application filed by bunq. Similar to the Wise denial from a few weeks ago, some pretty harsh comments re: the proposed management team.

I'm becoming increasingly concerned that the Italian engineers buying massive saas companies for 2x revenue are only doing it for a paycheck, as opposed to the company’s mission.
If you want one take-away from the Airtable deal
It isn't:
- Don't Raise Too Much (Last round investors get 1x back)
- Embrace AI (Airtable did)
- Move faster (Airtable stepped it up)
- VCs are evil (They agreed to the deal)
- Get profitable (Important, but didn't help per se when Airtable got there)
It is:
- Grow or Die. That's 2026.
20% growth (and presumably, not accelerating) at $500m ARR = 2.5x-4x ARR
That's it
The point most founders should take away from this is that a ~$500M ARR co with a great product and a ton of cash that’s only growing 20% is just not worth much.
Wow. Airtable, founded in 2012 and once valued at $11.7B, is getting acquired by Bending Spoons, founded 2013, at 2.7x ARR.
A once hot startup; now an unfortunate victim of the SaaS bust. It raised $1.4B only to be sold for $1.285B EV ($2.25B equity value), just clearing its preference stack.
That implies common and early holders split the remaining ~$850M, a ~10x haircut from peak.
Selling to Bending Spoons is an admission of defeat+wanting ANY kind of exit, knowing most staff will be let go after this
Airtable raised $1.4B in funding. This exit most certainly means investors get some investment back: founders maybe something. Employees likely wiped out…
One of the best quality-of-life investments you can make is buying an Eight Sleep and getting a Toto Washlet.
That being said, this comes with a hefty price tag, everywhere you go, even luxury hotels will feel like a downgrade from home.
Vlad Tenev, Robinhood $HOOD Q2 2026 earnings call: In many cases, the models themselves aren't familiar with being used for trading, so sometimes they'll fight you and they'll say, "Well, I don't know, I don't really want to trade."

Anduril Co-Founder @traestephens thinks the US should implement mandatory civil service.
"It's not a super contrarian idea, actually. There are a bunch of countries across the world that have some version of mandatory civil service."
"In fact, we have aspects of this inside of our own society."
"Things like jury duty or being subpoenaed for court or there are instances throughout the last 50 years where people were called into service to do things like road construction and maintenance..."
"I think there's something really important about ensuring a sense of civil duty into our next generation."
"I don't think that needs to be in a military service. It could just as easily be like going and working as a clerk in a county courthouse. There's all sorts of things that we can do to pull people in and have this feeling of shared progress that we all owe a responsibility towards."
WE’VE REACHED ≈$2B IN ANNUALISED CARD SPEND VOLUME! 🚀
July’s $160M+ in onchain card spend pushed our annualised run-rate to ≈$2B in just 8 months since launch.
We reached $1B in 131 days, the fastest in the industry. Roughly 110 days later, that run-rate had nearly doubled.
When you first take a finance job you get an hour long seminar of a compliance guy yelling at you that you can never share sensitive information with anyone (including your wife) and that you will go to prison forever if you do unapproved PA trades.
In tech you can just marry the chief of staff of the hottest private firm and front run all their announcements and people will hail you as some sort of visionary
