@philclarke0170 Your ear is much closer to the ground than mine but I would suspect the media team are trying to show a diverse fan base , in order to attract a wider audience ?!
@ade_oladipo1 It’s been coming from the beginning of the season , we simply haven’t been at the races and the new additions really to justify their huge fees
You miss the point (predictably).
Im not disputing the views of Laura. Im discussing why THIS of all things was so uniquely horrifying that it triggered multiple posts/retweets on the topic, when previously her page was uniquely sports related.
It reinforces the idea that as a public figure, if you mention Palestine, its considered controversial. But if you mention a dead white american right wing possibly supremacist guy... thats ok.
Let me simplify it for you further.
If Laura wrote "I really can’t get out of my head what has happened to Palestinian people in Gaza. I watch what's happening to them a lot, not because I agreed with everything they represent, but because they are human beings and worthy of the rights all of us are. Starved to death and bombed to pieces and forcibly displaced from their homes. I’ll never get the images out of my head. Horrifying".... i assure you, her career would be strategic risk. Im not saying she would be sacked (maybe she would), but there would be really questions about her continuing (see Gary Lineker).
But she didn't say that. Instead she said something about a Charlie. Entirely and utterly and absolutely non sports related. And there will not be a single murmur about her ability to carry on in her role
