GUT THE BLOATED BEEHIVE
🪓 David Seymour wants to cut a few Cabinet and Ministerial roles. Nice try, but it’s not nearly enough.
I've been saying this for years—New Zealand’s Parliament is bloated beyond belief.
We’ve got 122 MPs (yes, you read that right)—and half of them are virtually unemployed.
✔️ Sitting on their hands
✔️ Chucking childish insults across the debating chamber
✔️ Clocking in, but barely showing up
This country does not need 122 lawmakers. We could run this place with 80 MPs—easily.
That would slash the fat, trim the costs, and restore some accountability.
💰 Each MP costs taxpayers around $1 million a year once you factor in salary, staff, travel, and perks.
Do the math—that’s over $120 million a year for a House full of seat-warmers.
🔥 That money would be far better invested in fixing our broken healthcare system—where 5,500 doctors are striking, surgeries are being cancelled, and patients are waiting months to be seen.
Funny how Seymour doesn’t dare suggest cutting the total number of MPs. Why?
Because ACT and all the other minor parties would lose their influence—and they love the perks too much.
Instead of forcing healthcare, education, and police to make brutal cuts…
➡️ How about we cut back on the cushy political class?
🗣️ If we’re going to tighten NZ’s belt, start with the waistline of Parliament.
Trim the fat. Gut the bloat. Give power back to the people—not the privileged political class.
