Someone tagged me to a post where a person asked, "What has the Catholic Church done for Nigerians?"
I smiled, because the answer is all around us. For well over a century, the Catholic Church has built and sustained schools, universities, hospitals, clinics, orphanages, rehabilitation centres, rural missions, homes for the elderly, and countless humanitarian programmes that serve and benefit millions of Nigerians both Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
The Church has also been a consistent voice for justice, good governance, peace, and the dignity of every human person.
The Church's impact is too visible to ignore.
What the Church cannot do for you, however, is what rightly belongs to the responsibility of government: provide security, build roads, create sound economic policies, and ensure the welfare of all citizens. That is the duty of the State, not the Church.

Although HE PO is box office and driver of public discourse in Africa, and many citizens view him as defacto president, we already know everything that is necessary to know about PO and his views.
What would really illuminate current public discourse is to have Tinubu/Shettima share their views with you on the economy, governance, politics and the road to 2007.

To deepen democracy, you first need a STABLE country.
ROTATION, however you view it, has been one of the stabilising stones of Nigeria democracy.
Like all Nigerians, Atiku is aware that he has scant chance of winning a presidential election, even with Tinubu's woes.
Atiku's grandstanding is no more than the final troes of a deeply tainted personal ambition. It does nothing to deepen democracy.

The Constitution is clear that any qualified Nigerian can run for the office of President. The rotational practice we have had is just an informal arrangement. By putting himself forward as the leading northern candidate at a time when it is supposed to be the Southโs turn, he will enrich our constitutional democracy. Meritocracy must remain the focus of elections. This zoning convention has made many politicians complacent, content to simply wait for their turn.

CONSISTENCY, DETERMINATION, AND THE PATH TO HOLINESS: THE WISDOM OF ST. JOHN PAUL II
โYou just have to be what most people arenโt: consistent, determined, and willing to work for it. No shortcuts.โ
This truth applies not only to success in life, but also to the pursuit of holiness.
St. John Paul II understood that greatness is not achieved through comfort, excuses, or temporary emotions. A holy life is built day after day through faithfulness, discipline, sacrifice, and a complete surrender to God.
The world often searches for instant results.
But God forms souls through perseverance.
A person does not become a saint in one moment. A saint is formed through thousands of small decisions: choosing prayer when distracted, choosing virtue when tempted, choosing forgiveness when wounded, and choosing Christ when the world offers another path.
St. John Paul II reminded us:
โDo not be afraid. Open wide the doors for Christ.โ
Opening the doors to Christ means allowing Him to transform every part of our lives.
It means being consistent in prayer.
Determined in faith.
Willing to carry the Cross.
There are no shortcuts to holiness.
There is no substitute for daily conversion.
The Rosary prayed faithfully.
The Eucharist received with devotion.
The Sacrament of Confession embraced with humility.
The commandments lived with love.
The works of mercy practiced with charity.
Small acts of faithfulness, repeated every day, become a life transformed by grace.
Do not compare your journey with others.
Do not give up because progress seems slow.
God is not asking for perfection overnight.
He is asking for a faithful heart that keeps walking with Him.
Remain consistent.
Remain determined.
Keep working with Godโs grace.
Because the greatest achievement of a human life is not worldly recognition, but becoming the person God created you to be: a saint.
St. John Paul II, pray for us.
Jesus Christ, lead us on the path of holiness.
